Bookmark: Add new page will put it at top of destination list
-
Hello,
In previous Vivaldi versions and when adding a bookmark to a destination folder, its entry will be appended to end of list of that destination folder. Now in version 3.8, the entry inserted at top of list.Such change maybe good when destination folder is "SpeedDial" as people like to see recent bookmarked pages at to top of Speedial page rather than at bottom. But for people having their own folders and each folder has many many entries, like my case for a folder holding 1k entries!!! This will be extra pain to relocate the added entry!!!
Is there is a way to change this back like in previous Vivaldi versions???Another note in v3.8: Vivaldi doesn't remember last folder destination where a bookmark saved to it!!! Every time I have to add a new bookmark, I have to re-select the destination folder, this wasn't the same in previous V versions, at least in V3.7;
I hope someone can help me to change this back ... Thanks.

@Gwen-Dragon,
Thanks for checking, I just learned that there is Bookmarks Panel and it has sort feature which is not available at Vivavlid://Bookmarks
For your check, I have to ask you: are you using V3.8? if yes, was it an upgrade from earlier version or clean install? -
I've got same problem. When new bookmark added to folder in bookmarks it goes to top of the list in this folder but if it added not in folder it goes to end of bookmarks list.

Seems related to the report I've written
VB-78680 New speeddial page is added as first thumbnail, should be last. -
@Gwen-Dragon, please test again, you probably added to root folder named "Bookmarks". Thanks to @alenmyst for noticing and sharing.

@Gwen-Dragon don't have a bug to file right now but I think I tried uploading an animated gif once and the dialog for choosing a file does not allow animated gifs (zip, txt, all sorts of image formats). Much easier to just add an animated gif right from that page rather than having to reply to the confirmation mail with an attachment.

Yes, that bug makes it impossible to choose bookmark Y you know you have added after bookmark X.
Another weird feature or bug in version 3.8 is, that if you add a bookmark clicking the bookmark icon at the end of the address line, you cannot choose the right bookmark folder. The bookmark is added somewhere before you can choose the folder.

I just updated to the newest version and ran into this too, very disorienting and frustrating. Not only does it seem like there is a lag when adding bookmarks that wasn't there before, but now they are slapped at the top of lists/speed dial (which I have set up a specific way and like having new additions append to the bottom/end)
I hope there will be a way to revert this back.
Also, regarding the lag, I agree with the above user that now bookmarks are automatically stuck in the overall bookmarks folder first, which is inconvenient and kind of dumb. As I mentioned before, there is also this lag as it tries to fetch the info, and this lag is only with the update. The new bookmarks dropdown/method seems like a step back

Confirming here the bug and the report of everyone here.
- The new bookmark isn't added at the end of the folder (on the bookmarks page or bookmarks bar, I'm not using the bookmarks panel).
- The bookmark pop-up doesn't remember the last chosen folder.
- You have to double press Ctrl+D to access to the bookmark pop-up.
Every point of this list is annoying and seems to be a regression to me. At least for the 1. and 3., it could be nice to be able to customize the behaviour in the settings.

Same problem here. The redesigned bookmarking function has a lot of bugs. See my post about it here.

@Liike No such issue here.

@pesala It seems as though this pops up right away by clicking on the icon at the end of the address bar.
But, if you hit Ctrl + D or right-click and select "Bookmark Page", this popup does not display, and the bookmark will instead just be added directly to your bookmarks folder. However, if you bookmark the page again (Ctrl + D or right-click and select "Bookmark Page") then the popup will display, and you can then add the bookmark to whichever folder you wish.
Weird.

With the 4.0 version, the first and second points are no longer relevant. Nice!
