How to use Chrome Extensions?
-
Hello, if I click on Tools / Extensions in Vivaldi a window opens telling me that I have no extensions installed. There is, however, a link to the repository of Chrome extensions. Is there indeed a way to install such extensions in Vivaldi, since upon selecting an extension there is no install button? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Jochen

Jus go to the Chrome extensions store, select the extension and add it.
Sometimes you cant see the install button on the first time.
Usually restarting Vivaldi solves the problem

This seems to be a bug. Going to the chrome store by clicking the link to it on extension page hides the "add to chrome" button. Just go to the store directly and it will work out, maybe bookmark a link to it. Chrome extensions generally function fine, as long as they don't rely solely on an action button.

Yes, that solved it!
Thank you very, very much!

Love this feature! It'll be so cool when he devs get the extension icons show up I'll probably make a total switch to Vivaldi on my desktop when this gets solved.

Another workaround is to click on the g+ icon and then click browser back button.
The install button now appears. -
So, how come I can not see tools>extension ?
I just install extension I wanted. The button didn't show also, but bookmarking the link was workaround.
I use the version 1.0.219.50 (Developer Build) (32-bit). -

I use the version 1.0.219.50 (Developer Build) (32-bit).That may be the reason.
Currently Snapshot 1.0.264.3 is available - https://vivaldi.net/blogs/teamblog/ -

I use the version 1.0.219.50 (Developer Build) (32-bit).Official extension support was only added in the last few versions. You can still see your extensions by going to vivaldi://extensions but you will have to update to a newer version if you want tools>extension and the extension buttons to work.

Thank you. For the version 1.0.219.50 (Developer Build) (32-bit) only one extension installed is not loading every time on browser startup.

would be nice to make chropera store working and accept chroperas name extension, as package format is the same and chroperas extensions mostly are 100% chrome compatible

@tomlaheyh:
Extensions without buttons are a no-go. Instead of all the code etc. required, can't you just add a right-click item for extensions and then give a list of active extensions? I believe that 87.4% of all hard problems have an amazingly easy solution.
Have a great day.
There are extension buttons in the latest snapshot.

@tomlaheyh:
I am on the latest build 1.0.219.50 and there are no extension buttons, is there something I am missing? Also getting to extensions is not so clear on the settings, can be improved.
Sorry - the latest build is 1.0.300.5, which is seventeen builds after the one you have. You need to go to the Vivaldi Team Blog https://vivaldi.net/ to get it.

@TbGbe what "g+ icon"? sorry.

@TbGbe what "g+ icon"? sorry.
At the top right corner of the little popup dialogue you get when you select an extension to install, there is a button with red letters on it offering you to recommend the extension on Google Plus. The red letters are "G+1."

-
Menu/Tools/extensions - there should be a checkbox by the extension, to enable it.
