Address bar fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2038.4
-
After installing this update, the address bar is no longer focused when opening a new tab. The corresponding setting is still enabled, however, so it ought to work.
-
@Vistaus Still working as expected here. The setting needs to be disabled, not enabled.
Focus Page Content on New Tab -
More than 3 months ago I've filed a bug report VB-68479 about the issue with using home/end keys while navigating search suggestions in the Search bar. And it feels like it is just completely ignored. I'm not talking about when issue could be fixed, but about the lack of any responses to it for 3 months. Like, you know, "confirmed/unconfirmed", "will be worked on/it is already fine as is" etc. I'm wondering whether all bug report processing is supposed to be this way.
-
@Erinome That is normal. You will not hear from the developers unless they need some more information.
You can ask in the Bug Status Thread and those insiders with access to the bug-tracker can tell you its status.
Three months is not long at all.
-
@pesala: You're right, but even with the setting disabled, the address bar still isn't focused.
-
new tab has no active cursor in address bar, focus of page content is disabled
-
@vulture No such issue here. What is your OS and Vivaldi version?
-
@vulture: check following too: if in new/blogs view🡭 or in forums view🡭
-
it's windows 10 and vivaldi 3.4.2038.4 (Official Build) (64-bit)
-
@vulture I don't see the problem, did you try it in a guest window?
-
@Folgore101 what is a guest window though? I just have a window with tabs. I open a new tab and there's no focus at the address bar. Tried it many time, restarted etc, same behaviour every time.
-
-
@gwen-dragon: that is what I was afraid of. It could only be not confirmed if the issue wasn't understood because of its poor description. So what should I do? Record a video visually showing the issue and send a link to it into old bug report? Or is it closed already, so I should create a new one? Or should I try to describe it in some other words? And how am I supposed to know that the report was silently declined? ><
-
@gwen-dragon: What specific settings do you mean? I didn't change any settings (except for playing with the one we discussed) and it used to work fine, so there's gotta be a regression in this build.
-
@Folgore101 If I disable the Speed dial (FVD) extension and open a new tab, the focus is indeed at the url bar as it should. So, I guess, it should be reported a problem with said extension?
-
@vulture yes
-
@iAN-CooG not sure how to report it officially tho, never done it before, is there a place for this? sorry for the newbie q
-
@vulture Yes https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
Put as many directions as possible to reproduce the problem.modedit set link to english version of bug report page
-
@Folgore101 It's the extension's fault as he said
@vulture if you have a google account you can report it there under "support" https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/speed-dial-fvd-new-tab-pa/llaficoajjainaijghjlofdfmbjpebpa?hl=en
-
but chrome and opera have no problem with the extension, so, isn't that a vivaldi problem instead?
