Extensions' keyboard shortcuts don't work
-
@luetage Again, that doesn't work. Unable to set it to Global after inputing shortcut. Vivaldi is listed and its greyed out.
-
@caseybarx You are setting a none
Activate the extension
shortcut, right? You can't change the activation shortcut to global, but the others should be changeable. -
The shortcuts that are not working are "Activate the Extension" shortcuts. They are not activating the extension.
Above it was said that "Only shortcuts to open the action popup work as expected." That is not the case for me. They are not working activating the extension and they used to for some reason.
-
@caseybarx Shortcuts to activate popup work for me, try on a fresh profile with one extension to double check.
-
@luetage No luck. I tried a new vivaldi profile and the activate extension shortcut did not work there. Not sure why it no longer works in vivaldi.
Extension is Gqueues for Chrome

@caseybarx Can confirm, the shortcut doesn’t work for this specific extension.
-
@luetage Might be the same issue as with the bug
VB-93847
where setting a command for_execute_action
in the extension's manifest fails. -
After using Vivaldi full time during the weekend i finally started investigating why Bitwarden autofill shortcut wouldn´t work on stable or snapshot and found this thread.
Seeing this still being unresolved over 3 (!) years later leaves me real confounded about Vivaldi. Hopefully some progress is being made in finally resolving this.

This is driving me more than a little crazy.
I've had Vivaldi set up on one of my systems for months and ctrl-shift-L works fine. I set it up on a new system and it doesn't work on the new one. But it still works on the old one, and interestingly, these installs use the same synced account. They're also both on Windows 11. I can't figure out what the difference between the two is, but clearly there must be something.
-
@bsubg Did you set the shortcut to
Global
on the other system? It doesn't work withIn Vivaldi
selected and I am not sure if that value is synced. -
@nomadic no, that was the very first thing I checked, it's set to in Vivaldi on the other system which is the way I would prefer it. Works fine. On the second system, setting it to Global makes no difference anyway, still doesn't work.

Hi there,
so I just switched from Edge to Vivaldi because our programming teacher recommended it to us back in 2017 and since Microsoft has to put more and more ad-popups into edge I'm getting kinda annoyed. Had been using Opera for a while but since that got bought by the Chinese I thought I'll give Vivaldi a chance.
So I'm using the 1password extension. And in Edge (which is chromium too) I assigned a shortcut onto it (CTRL+Shift+L). And since it's the exact same addon and the assignment works the same I did the same on Vivaldi. But somehow it's not working here. When I use that shortcut it's not doing anything. Tried another one but it still doesn't do anything. Has anyone an idea why's that?
It's not that much of a problem because the addon itself works. Just the shortcup that opens it up doesn't. But that's pretty annoying when I'm trying to log on to something. Thanks for your help and time in advance. Hope you have a good day.

@cormag Only shortcuts to activate the action popup are possible without setting the shortcut to global. We hope this will change in future.
-
@luetage @cormag I have used the 1Password extension for a very long time on Vivaldi, and the keyboard shortcut to open it just quit working recently. I wish I could give you a more accurate date, but I can't.
This seems to affect only some extensions, and it is not specific to particular keyboard shortcuts. For example, I have always used Ctrl-period for 1Password and Alt-O for Okta. Right now, 1Password does not work, but Okta does. If I switch the keyboard shortcuts so that Alt-O is assigned to 1Password and Ctrl-period is assigned to Okta, then 1Password still doesn't work, and Okta still does.
Here is a list of the keyboard shortcuts I use for extensions that I have defined:
Not working:
Ctrl-period - open 1Password
Ctrl-Shift-L - lock 1Password extension
Ctrl-Shift-F - open Chrome Regex SearchWorking:
Ctrl-Shirt-G - open find+ | Regex Find-in-Page Tool
Alt-O - open Okta Browser PluginI think that this is a problem that needs more investigation.
-
@skycaptain I have never used either extension. Where are you setting these shortcuts?
-
I'm going through the extension properties:
"Shortcuts"
"Change on extension site"And then here:
"activate shortcut"It's where you can manage all the extensions and it looks the same on all chromium instances (like chrome and edge)
@skycaptain now thats odd. Pretty weird behaviour. You'd think it should work on all chromium based browsers the same.
-
@cormag Click »in vivaldi,« set it to »global,« then your shortcut should work.
-
Yeah well, but I can't change the option for "activate extension" and that's kinda the feature I want to get working.
But you're right - locking the extension works now. Why can't I change it for activating it too?
-
@cormag Because activating is supposed to work without setting it to global. So the bug we have here is that activating the extension popup doesn’t work for 1password.
-
But it's working on edge and it's the same extension:
So I guess it's a Vivaldi-related thing, no?
