Vivaldi introduces a full-page Notes Manager and configurable menus to its browser for computers
-
@npro: not an advertisement jsut what I'd hope it would support (why have multiple note taking apps when one can be used) so I'd rather the browser sync to that (or any third party solution where the user can run there own cloud service) then Vivaldi's cloud service.
I'm of the opinion that if you don't control the server its not yours and you can never know what the security/privacy is like on the other end of.. the end to end encryption
As much as I think Vivaldi are doing good in comparison to the competitors, there are still somethings that can't be ignored, closed source, user cloud storage with no third party alternative allowed or supported... its enough for me to be on the fence as far as trust goes with using those services.

That's a very subtle-not-subtle reference to current events in the thumbnail right there.

Still can't make a NEW folder in Bookmarks. Can put a new bookmark into another folder which I don't want to do, can't create a New Folder,WHY?
Can do it on the Android Vivaldi app, but not on PC -
@Dolorosa , just right click in the Bookmark bar
-
uhm...
Here's my notes editor with zero mods, only 10% of the vertical space is being used

@sjudenim I have this behaviour on the test version snapshot (still on 3.1.1929.13).
Something must be wrong during a previous incremental update.
On RC2 from .13 (main snapshot) this didn't happened.
If you mean from previous stable to current stable -- then is even worse. [Can't reproduce on Stable] -
Thanks for checking.
Yes, this was from stable to stable upgrade. The size is being limited.
and I just realized that there is an instant crash when I close the Developer Tools from that page. Reproducible every time
-
@sjudenim devtools crash is known about.
-
I see it's not just that page, Dev Tools crashes every time. This is unusable for me. I'm disappointed that this is considered stable with a known issue like that. Not to mention that one of the shiny new features doesn't even seem to work well.
-
@sjudenim That's kind curious.
I updated from 3.0.1874.23 to 3.1.1929.29 [stable] and I don't see the notes issue.
[May I've skipped all the minor updates as I don't actually follow the stable branch] -
Hmm, sounds like an issue in the user profile folder maybe. I'm going back the previous one because of the Dev Tools crashes, but thanks for further testing

[Regression] Dead bird shown without crash on closing (VB-63880)
This one confuses me. Is it supposed to be fixed? If so, does that mean that my browser crashes every time I close it? Or is it not fixed and therefore my browser doesn't actually crash when I see that dead bird upon closing Vivaldi?
I'm on 3.1.1929.29 already and the dead bird still makes its presence...
-
@pafflick I actually think is partially fixed. Here I don't see dead birds but others still see them.
-
As always, everything works perfectly for me. Now I have 2 editors in Vivaldi and I am thinking how can I take advantage of the notes and Blue Velvet that I have on the web panel.
In Blue Velvet I can save the files in htm format. -
@potmeklecbohdan: last I know they had no intention of adding support... so yeah disabled/not supported...
As for the profile page.. ask Vivaldi.
-
These new features, while appreciated, put things so far behind that the only thing there will be time for in the next release is changing 3.1 to 3.2, 83 to 84, and clicking Compile. Seriously, with only a month left, the next one would be the perfect time for a catch-up bug-fix release (only). Not every version needs new features. Maybe every other one?

This is with startup setting set as "Last session"
-Vivaldi panel size resets on startup.
-The left bar in Granblue Fantasy (http://game.granbluefantasy.jp/) clips the game page content on startup. Returns to normal after reload.

@koolio: Hmm - on firefox here. Vivaldi won't let me log in for some reason.
Anyway - Firefox got forked from Mozilla because people felt the Mozilla browser had too many features built in and had become bloated and unresponsive. Not adding core features was a design goal.

This is great but it would be awesome if we could call the notes manager onto the screen like the developer console. Like if I am watching a youtube video or an online course, to have the ability to call the notes manager (preferably) at the bottom to take notes would be the best.Even then this is a great feature so thank you.
