Wrapping up for release – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1745.9
-
@potmeklecbohdan And the old behaviour had a better theme blending especially with dark extensions icons vs dark themes (but this can be fixed changing background colors with css to the overlay popup)
-
Dev Tools are still unusable for debugging. I reported it on September 20 (VB-57796, Docked developer tools become unresponsive to the mouse clicks when pausing script execution).
-
Looks like there's something strange happening with sync however: if sync is enabled, bookmarks are marked as "Needs update" in the side panel, deleted folders are restored on sync as well as emptied bookmark trash (MacOS version).
-
@RammsteinAM It looks like my report (VB-60717) is a duplicate in this case. But it's nice to hear that I can get around this issue by undocking developer tools, in case I can still English and understand it well.
-
I updated from snapshot 1719.3 on my Linux machine (Debian Jessie) and the menu isn't readable with my current color theme anymore:
Does anybody else have this problem or is it my configuration?
(This happens also with clean profile!) -
@m-p-y All the built-in themes have a name.
Do you have "Use Native Window" On
see at Ctrl+F12 >> Appearance. -
@m-p-y Try to change Gtk theme, the menus are styled by that IIRC.
-
@lamarca Yes, but it makes no difference.
-
@potmeklecbohdan Do you know which property?
.menuitem .entry color
is set to more-or-less white, so this obvious style isn't taken into account -- as in older snapshots. I can tweak my color profile, but maybe others will take this as a show-stopper. -
@m-p-y The best person to assist you is @potmeklecbohdan , pretty good in modification.
-
@sisisisi: Yes, but undocked Dev Tools have another annoying bug (I didn't report it yet): In the Element tab when I click the arrow button on the top-left and select an element in the page to inspect, dev tools are going background, unlike Chrome where the Dev Tools stay on top. This is very inconvenient especially if you have only one monitor.
-
Vivaldi has become as boring as Opera and rest of them. No great wow features anymore, just bug fixes and chromium updates. No improving the PIP video functioning (Opera's is far better). I don't know why I keep a daily eye on browser sites as you know what's coming and its BORING ! Where has the original Vivaldi WOW factor gone? Now it's just another boring drone like Chrome, Opera etc. Interesting how Vivaldi likes to expose surveillance these days on the blog but then won't do an inbuilt ad blocker unlike Brave and Opera. Come on Vivaldi you have an excellent browser now just smash the others by sorting what they have which you don't and MORE.

Last stable release before the end of the year and hopefully last release before the mail client
I am thinking the same, 2020 will bring Mail client with Vivaldi.
-
@uhm First of all, please stay on topic. You can create a new thread in the forum, snapshot threads are for feedback on snapshots.
I also see that not so many things pop up, but don't forget it's a small team (~40) for:
- a browser
- website (that also takes much effort I think)
- forum & community
- sync
- Android version
- and probably finalizing the mail client (who knows?)
- did I forget anything?
Could some mod please move these two posts out? Thanks.

It can't be differently, Vivaldi 3.0 goes hand in hand with M 3.0 , breaking the tech news everywhere

menu
selectors). -

Not really. This is more a Gtk thing and I'm not an expert at Gtk's CSS.
-
@valdyn: Some extensions seems to cause the window not to close, we have a bug on it that we are working on
-
@potmeklecbohdan Thanks a lot, that might give me some clue! I'll try to dig into that in the next days.
-
@m-p-y Out of curiosity, what Gtk theme do you use?
