If the extension "Feedbro" is opened in the tab, then the tab icon of Feedbro disappears.
-
@Pathduck Yes, this link shows the Feedbro icon:
I hope I put the string right in the code:

@stardepp OK good. But I don't understand - did you not say the Feedbro icon was not showing? Because in your screenshot it's right there, below the number 4870:
I'm confused -
@Pathduck Ok, I'll explain it again in detail: Feedbro is displayed correctly in the extension bar.
The tab icon of Feedbro is not displayed in the tab bar, that was my original problem. Green arrow in picture:
-
@stardepp Hergot! :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:
Sheesh, I misunderstood completely, and I think the "dragon" did too
I just read "extension" in the first post and didn't realise they were pinned tabs... we've been looking at the wrong thing the whole time, no wonder you were confused as well when I asked you to right-click the extension icon
That one should just use the regular, web-based favicon. You know the drill by now, and familiar with the inspector mode, just have a look at the tab icon and find out what's wrong
-
@Pathduck I apologize again. My native language is German, maybe it wasn't translated well, but I use DeepL...the best translator...
In inspector mode I could only find this one:
-
@stardepp Don't worry about it, I definitely see the humour of the situation
So, same thing there, but open the
span
above where you are in that picture, with the "favicon" class, and look at the srcset attribute of the image.Copy the URL from the inspector and try to open it.
-
-
And does it open in the address bar when you copy it in there?
-
OK so I installed Feedbro and I can confirm the issue here as well.
The code looks like this:
<span class="favicon jstest-favicon-image"> <img width="16" height="16" alt="" srcset="chrome-extension://mefgmmbdailogpfhfblcnnjfmnpnmdfa/images/reader16.png"> </span>
This should work, and the URL is a valid image::
chrome-extension://mefgmmbdailogpfhfblcnnjfmnpnmdfa/images/reader16.png
Problem is that the computed size of the <img> element for some reason is 0x0px.
Same problem with the uBlock Origin Dashboard page, similar URL:
chrome-extension://cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm/img/icon_16.png
And the Cookie Autodelete options page:
chrome-extension://fhcgjolkccmbidfldomjliifgaodjagh/icons/icon_24.png
The Tampermonkey Dashboard page does not have the issue, and it uses a different image-url type:
chrome://favicon/size/16@2x/chrome-extension://dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo/options.html
(difficult to see in the screenshot because the tab is inactive and the icon is dark, but it's there)So I've had the same issue myself, I've just not noticed because I don't pin tabs, and rarely open them anyway.
Not sure if this is something Vivaldi does wrong for these extension-specific pages, but anyway I think you should report it, and link to this thread/post for the details.

@stardepp Another thing I don't understand is this:
In this image:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/assets/uploads/files/1574617477180-2019-11-24-18_40_46-greenshot.jpgYou can clearly see the Feedbro icon left of the Last.fm icon:
But in this image with the arrows:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/assets/uploads/files/1574621186567-2019-11-24-19_43_51-greenshot.jpgIt's gone:
What was the difference between these two times?
-
@Pathduck Yeah, that works:
-
@Pathduck Ok, when I start Vivaldi, the Feedbro tab icon is displayed, when I open the Feedbro tab, the Feedbro icon disappears after a short time.
-
I can confirm on 2.9.1705.41 that the extension favicons for uBlock Origin and uMatrix don't always load when in a tab.
It's very strange - I can't imagine what is causing it.

...It's not the solution to the original problem (If the extension "Feedbro" is opened in the tab, then the tab icon of Feedbro disappears) but...
...I have found a solution for myself.
This morning I had the idea to set up all my tabs, which are used daily, as webpanels. This includes Feedbro. So I set up the Feedbro extension as a web panel.
I noticed that Feedbro's webpanel icon remains permanently visible...that makes me very happy, and using Feedbro in the webpanel is just as comfortable as in the tab.
I'd like to point out that you can really set up any website and extensions as a webpanel.
This improves the usability of Vivaldi enormously.
Now I have been using Vivaldi for about 18 months and Vivaldi still has surprises in store for me.
That's great...thanks to the Vivaldi team and all Vivaldi users and Vivaldi Forum members...I'm happy to be part of it.
-
Strangely enough, the Feedbro icon remains permanently visible on the Feedbro settings page:
[chrome-extension://mefgmmbdailogpfhfblcnnjfmnpnmdfa/options.html]
but if you switch back to the feed view in Feedbro, the Feedbro icon still disappears after a short time.
[chrome-extension://mefgmmbdailogpfhfblcnnjfmnpnmdfa/reader.html]
The Feedbro developer answered me:
Who or what is "AFAIK", can it be a Vivaldi forum user, or even a Vivaldi employee?
Does the developer's answer help to solve my problem?
-
@stardepp said in If the extension "Feedbro" is opened in the tab, then the tab icon of Feedbro disappears.:
Who or what is "AFAIK"
acronym for As Far As I Know

Add a search engine for Acronym Finder or a similar site.
-
@Pesala Thanks, but there is no better feed reader (than Chrome extension).
-
Since the update to Vivaldi 3.0.1874.33 the FeedBro icon is permanently displayed
