[Tabs] Add “Alt click to reopen last closed tab” tooltip to Trash button: middle click also works (VB-28989)
err.. actually alt click on the trashcan doesn't do anything, apart flashing the V menu dropdown for a half second. Only middle click on trashcan opens last closed tab for me
-
@iAN-CooG Showing the V menu depends on the setting for Alt Key for Main Menu in Settings, Keyboard. For me, the menu does not show at all if I hold Alt then click the trash can. Alt key alone will show the menu.
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit 1903 build 18362.418 • Snapshot 2.9.1732.13 (64-bit)

@Pesala I have Alt key for menu checked because I want it.
Fact is that pressing left or right click, while pressing alt, on the trashcan doesn't actually work, as otherwise indicated in the tooltip, and when releasing the alt key the menu obviously pops up. Probably only on win7? -

or highlight the text like you did.
Try using search in settings dialogue!
Only one radio button selected for me!? -
@ian-coog: The menu opening after an interrupted press on Alt is a known bug (VB-59327). This should indeed be fixed by Vivaldi rather than worked around by disabling desired functionality.
-
Still 2.9? Don’t you think of fully removing the first two numbers?
-
Some new features - sending pages to the mobile browser from the desktop:
I can't find the same function on the mobile browser though, I hope it is made available in the future, I love to use this to send to the desktop articles to read later while at home, and if Vivaldi makes this happen it would allow me to completely get rid of Edge.
It doesn't work perfectly though, there's a pretty large delay of about 3-5 minutes before notifications appeared on them phone, I assume it's the sync server?
All in all, this is a great function, and I truly appreciate it. Please, please make it available on the mobile browser as well, i.e. "Send to Desktop-XYZ". -
[Address Bar] Fix extension toggle setting after the replacement of the toggle button (VB-60328)
Noo... I liked the old behavior when I could keep them shown w/o taking space outside the address bar (both all and some extensions toggle). Can we please have an option for this?
Overlay scrollbars stopped working...
And compose as well (
xsetkbmap -option compose:rctrl-altgr
) -
After updating I Lost my custom speed dial thumbnails.

Only one radio button selected for me!?Ah...! If I search "use ope" like in the image, then I get that section with no buttons clicked... and I can click all of them to show "on". They don't do anything though - but when I close and re-open the settings it's gone to the last clicked one (schedule theme)... except my default theme is still actually applied instead of the scheduled Vivaldi or Dark themes.
So all in all, yeah - Pathduck had a point. It just wasn't obvious what that was until we repeat the process of discovery.
-
@philippeoffner Save them in a folder that is not changed on updating. Keep custom window backgrounds and saved bookmarks files there too.
-
@t0yz Hey, sending pages to your phone is pretty cool! (Hmm... thought you could open on the phone from your PC session already, but the synchronisation seems a bit sketchy when I check now...)
-
@pesala: I know that. Since always my thumbnails are saved in a custom folder of Windows 10 Images folder. The links to these thumbnails were lost during the update.
-
@iAN-CooG
Works for me, both on Win10 and Linux (Debian 9) -
Still no fix for recently broken speed dial middle click
It is very annoying. -
The dark splash screen is a very welcome change.
As for the new theme scheduling, it appears to be what is normally found in other apps, though I'd love it if Vivaldi could go above and beyond. If I could tell Vivaldi to choose between multiple dark themes when the OS was dark (and light when the OS is light), that would be so much better.
"But why not just use scheduled themes at this point?" Because if it's set to change with the OS, the time scheduling could also dynamically change throughout the year.This is a minor inconvenience that I have with scheduled themes. As the year progresses I have to adjust the theme scheduling all over again, so it's a bit of a deal breaker that I lose the ability to have more than two themes with the new scheduling setting.

@Pesala
Got the same problem with custom speed dial icons and I use save location as @philippeoffner .
I will hold on updating my other Vivaldi installations until this cleared up.
Is it may a Linux only problem?Opensuse Tumbleweed x86_64

@iAN-CooG It's Ctrl+Click, probably a typo error
-
@npro: about blinking: this isn't vivaldi thing, AFAIK it's Chromium thing
-
@jacekn it is a Chromium thing but only Vivaldi nailed it since the beginning and that made a huge difference in browsing quality. New Speed Dial tabs never blinked and Vivaldi was the first to implement the method of showing the background color (for websites) when all the other Chromium based browsers used and probably are blinking blinding white.
