direct downloaded apk opens as zip
-
Hey there!
I just downloaded your directly hosted .apk. It saves on my device (Honor) as .apk but refuses to install when I tap it. I can only open it like a zip and browse it's contents... Any ideas? -
That's because apk files are zip files, they just have a different extension and certain files and folders are expected inside of them.
I assume your device (Honor) is an Android device with an ARM processor, such as your typical Android phone or tablet. You need to enable installation from unknown sources to be able to install programs directly from apk files. You'll likely find that in your security settings.

You may have set your ZIP manager to open APKs by default. You should be able to reset its settings if you find the app in the phone app manager.
I recommend APK Installer for general app management and side-loading in the phone or with a PC

My device recognizes the compressed downloaded file then decompresses and "Asks" me if I want to install the
