Single mouse click frequently becomes double click
-
I've been using Vivaldi as my main browser on Windows for a couple of years and the last year I've been trying every solution I could find online to fix my apparent problem with single left clicks frequently becoming double clicks (sometimes 1 in 20, sometimes 1 in 10, sometimes several in a row). As the problem was so frustrating that the search for a solution included buying five different mice while I've had the issue - the most recent just a few days ago - of three different brands. Nothing fixed the issue.
I estimate that well over 90% of my computer time on Windows, many days 99%, is spent in my web browser - mostly Vivaldi - so it was not until today that it finally occurred to me that perhaps, as strange as it seems, the web browser could be causing the problem?
And after a whole lot of test clicking in Vivaldi, two other web browsers and assorted other Windows programs, Vivaldi is indeed the only place where the single-becomes-double click problem has happened. Is there a possible solution to this problem other than changing away from my favorite web browser to another one?

@Gwen-Dragon That's a shame. It's become increasingly annoying to me as it's been happening so frequently (many times per day) for so long.
But at least I can stop buying new mice and looking for other OS level solutions. Though I do think I will forced to find another primary browser until the issue will hopefully be fixed some day. -
@miths The issue Gwen-Dragon mentions happens on links, for instance on this forums sometimes this happens, link text is selected when a link is clicked:
I assume you've already looked at the mouse double-click rate settings in Windows?
You can test your clicks on this page:

If you get a dblClick event when doing a single click that might be another issue than the one above. -

I have tried various double click speeds - again just now when I tried the test you linked to. The test suggests everything is okay with the mouse - or rather mice since I currently have two connected (a Logitech M220 and a brand new Hama vertical ergo-thingie) . I even ran the test in Vivaldi, but they did write that "Every attempt has been made to disable the default actions of mouse clicks when clicking on the test link", so perhaps the bug won't kick in there.
The problem does indeed seem to happen specifically with links - haven't noticed it with the browser UI or eg. trying to select text. But I haven't really observed it being limited to only certain types of sites, happens seemingly everywhere for me from forums over blogs and YouTube to Reddit and news sites and others.

I've been having the same issue since I switched to Vivaldi a few months ago and just now it was annoying me enough to search it out. If it's a known bug, why hasn't it been fixed?

@Marcron My last bug report was (VB-58104). Even allowing for the fact that there will be many duplicates and many invalid reports, that is a lot of bugs.
- Some are hard to fix
- Others might not be too hard, but are trivial issues (like this one)
- The critical bugs that affect many users will, of course, get fixed as a priority. Others may get fixed only after months or years. Some never get fixed until Chrome fixes the underlying code.

OK turns out it is not corsair software as I thought but a new windows 10 issue, Thanks Microsoft.
Uninstalling update kb4530684 solved the problem for me. Hope that helps someone with the same issue.

It's 17 Months on, my system doesn't have that update to remove but it does have the increasingly annoying double click from a single click.
Odd thing is I only recall experiencing it over the last few updates. Perhaps it was fixed and now it's back, or maybe it became more frequent.
Is anyone else experiencing this still/again?

Thanks @Gwen-Dragon I work in IT, have changed several mice and adjusted mouse settings in windows, happens on multiple windows 10 Pro machines (one virtual) but not my MX Linux machine which is running a slightly older version of Vivaldi. Hopefully it resolves before I get too frustrated by it as it appears to be beyond my control.

I am also looking for the answer to this question.
This bug seems to be unproduceable by most users. I think faulty hardware is the most likely cause, and changing my mouse has worked for me before.
Have you tried a different mouse?
