Twice the fun – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1664.26

Found this regression. VB-57513 - "Untile" is no longer displayed in the right-click context menu
-
@chdsl Then just re-run the script.
-
@Folgore101 Discussed in pre-previous SS topic (at the end of 2nd and start of 3rd page (with 20 posts per page))
-
@potmeklecbohdan Thank you. I've been falling behind on my reading schedule.

Thanks!
Maybe, I should use the script to install Vivaldi-snapshot in other Linux too, without being dependent on package managers. -
-
@Folgore101 doesn't hurt bringing it to devs attention one more time
There must be a duplicate too VB-56758 "[Regression] Untile tabs missing in context menu" -
Lovely images in these snapshot blog posts. Are they free to be downloaded and used as the wallpaper?
-
@chdsl See the link right above “Written by”. It usually requires some patience to find the image there (today it's super easy), but then you get full resolution. If you click on the Download free button (after expanding the image on Unsplash), you should see a popup at the bottom of page.
-
@chdsl if the creator offers it for free download why wouldn't it be?
-
@bib_vivaldi I tested, and after closing and reopening Vivaldi multiple times, I can confirm, first 2 tabs are lost after several tries.
-
@bib_vivaldi To me it happened too (with 1664.4), but I thought it's in my (very old) profile dir. With this snapshot it didn't happen, but it can be because I always closed all tabs (I'm not sure if I did).
-
@potmeklecbohdan I can replicate, almost consistently: I have 1 tab, then 1 tab stack of 2 YT videos, 1 tab with this forum and another tab for startpage, close/open vivaldi repeatedly, sometimes open a new tab then close, repeat. After some tries first 2 tabs are not restored on restart.

@pathduck: There is actually no more delay that previously, it just that due to beforeunload support, the url as shown in the url bar might switch to the loading url a bit later to avoid issues if the load is being aborted due to any beforeunload handler.
-

beforeunload
Yeah I suspected it was related to that one. I think you might need to tweak that one a bit though, it just feels wrong, especially when editing URLs and seeing the URL go back to the previous one after pressing Enter. Or pasting in an address and seeing the bar go blank in an instant, the user feels something is wrong.
If the URL had populated the address bar on the instant it would feel much smoother.

I beg to differ, the delay is noticeable when left clicking a speed dial thumbnail, it takes a second for it to react. Middle click instead opens immediately on a foreground tab.
-
@npro Yes, since we're close to the stable version, it doesn't hurt.
-
@iAN-CooG I think @Pathduck has put it better, previously -as also in Stable- the url populated the address bar immediately and the browser showed the background color immediately as well, before loading the site, now they've cut the background-color-showing duration in half by assigning the waiting-delay to it, with the only difference that with the url not populating the address bar immediately, one percieves the delay as "longer" and the click->response as "broken". Definitely needs tweaking.
-
@folgore101: Thanks, I was just going to mention this and you did it for me. Present in current stable and this snapshot.

Breakpoints in docked dev tools are still broken to completely unusable state, for arrows in search bar to work it's still required to disable numlock... This lasts for months already. And you're "stabilizing for the next release". Good work vivaldi team!
