When I first started playing with Vivaldi I did report a few bugs, but I never found a way to discover what happened later. I got a few automatic emails giving me the reference numbers, but nowhere I could take those numbers to see what happened. How are we supposed to know you couldn't reproduce it? So, 7 months later I must assume Vivaldi users don't go book shopping at Kobo (VB-48982 still not fixed). And I've found my own work-arounds for other bugs (VB-48118 and VB-48467) after receiving no response or information about what I reported.
It is hard to get enthusiastic about submitting bugs when there is so little response and (apparently) no way to see what happened to the bug you submitted.

@gworboys There is a category in the forum where you can explicitly request information on the status/progress of a bug, being https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/27450/what-is-the-status-of-vb-already-reported-bug-issue/553 . You may ask any questions you have, there.
-
Your browser overflows with bugs. You must be blind to not see them by yourself or you just don't use your own browser. On the other hand you seem to have a lot of time for adding support for LEDs behind the monitor and other not needed features.
-
I would add the option to attach an image in the bug report page.
-
I would change "Describe in steps how to reproduce the bug" title to something else because sometimes it's impossible to describe something in steps because it's too simple, like something just doesn't work.
-
@Gregor sorry to read that. Would you share the VB-number you're referring to so we can check it out in our bug tracker? I searched for your reports and many of them have been resolved already.
-
@gworboys sorry for the troubles.
Regarding:- VB-48982: we just tried to reproduce it again and it works for us. We just replied you via email about this issue.
- VB-48118: is it possible that you're trying to go backward using the rewind and fast forward buttons? These have a different functionality than the simple back and forward buttons.
- VB-48467: we couldn't reproduce it either but great to read that you manage to find a workaround with disabling HardWare Acceleration
We're trying to give more feedback to users who submit a report, it's just difficult to keep up with the volume as we receive so many everyday...
-
@Gregor as mentioned sorry to hear that some of the features don't work for you. Nonetheless some of them can be executed in so many different ways that we need to be able to understand your path so we can reproduce the issue and fix it. It may work one way and not work another way.
-
@AlesPG thanks for your suggestion, we are looking into it. Currently to avoid more spam, we don't have this option but we encourage you to share images by replying to the confirmation email you receive after you submit the bug report.
-
@ayespy: Thanks for that. May I be forgiven for thinking it was not entirely obvious ... but I know now
-
@gaelle: Thanks. Since the bug system is invisible to ordinary mortals, we have no idea that you receive so many each day - perhaps all reporting the same thing because there is no central place for managing this (as there is with open source projects). But now that I know someone is actually looking, as soon as I get a chance I will update to the latest build (again) and refresh the details of each.

Some of the most irritating are VB-29841/VB-29892/VB-56598 (all the same), VB-29481, VB-40614. First is supposedly fixed, but not for me. Second and third are CNR (I described it's reproduction, posted on forums etc), but it's very hard to describe it's reproduction because I don't know on what basis they work but I deal with them every day.
-
@gaelle It is only fair (and appropriate to this thread ) to post that VB-48982 - the Kobo website problem - does appear to be resolved now. I still get the problem with Privacy Badger enabled and I've reported that to them, but with that extension disabled the site loads properly.
I am fairly certain (after seven months it's hard to be completely certain) that I tested with all extensions disabled before reporting the bug, but I do know that I have not always done so when re-testing since then (since I hadn't heard back from Vivaldi, and the bug was not mentioned in snapshot updates my re-testing had been fairly half-hearted). Anyway, that's one down!
I've send "further information" emails to follow up on the other two. (No, VB-48118 is not about rewind/fast-forward.)
-
@gworboys thanks a lot for your understanding, kind words and precisions about VB-48118. We're looking into it and get back to you asap.
-
@Gregor thanks for your reply. Below a few feedback regarding the issues you mentioned:
- VB-56598: we're currently investigating it.
- VB-29481: we couldn't reproduce it and need some examples. We replied you via email and wait for your reply.
- VB-40614: we couldn't reproduce it either. Are you able to replicate this issue on a standalone install?
About the last two ones, have you also tried to uninstall and re-install Vivaldi?
It could be that your profile is corrupted and these issues are happening. -

It could be that your profile is corrupted and these issues are happening. From what I know re-installing Vivaldi does not affect the profile folder so I don't know how I could repair my profile if it's indeed corrupted.
-
@Gregor You can refresh your profile per the linked instructions, which will repair your profile if it is, indeed, corrupted.
