Quick Fix – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1628.12
-
Take your time guys. I can live with a new snapshot during the next week.
-
@lamarca: Looks like you're right. That's what I get for paying attention to the dev blog and not the forums.
I'd complain to Amazon, but the last time I did the Amazon support rep told me that he couldn't access my account information, and said I should close the chat and try again... Maybe they'll take it more seriously if I cancel my Amazon Music subscription? It's not like this isn't the first time this has happened in the past few months...
-
Now it works fine.
I see "Calendar" has been removed from the sidebar. -
Hello,
For me it didn't work. I installed it for first time, and didn't have chance to even use it. Tried reinstall drivers, restart after installation, reinstall it few times. For me it still shut down himself. I have GIF how it happens exactly. It's from yesterday at "old" version, but problem is still same.

@gt500: Known as VB-55665, VB-56002, (...) and some other bugs.
-
I have a question.
When fixing UI crash did you fix that if UI crash there should be a way to close browser or restart or get some information about it?
Fixing the crash itself isn't enough IMO because this can happen randomly anytime anyway.

[New][Tabs] Allow to mute website that is currently silent (VB-39371)
this doesn't work for me, I have a Youtube tab, paused, and mute tab doesn't get ticked unless I focus on it and start playing on it, so it behaves exactly as it was before.
Windows7 32bit, Vivaldi 2.7.1628.12 32bit -
[Regression][Settings] Alt for main menu enabled by default even when not checked (VB-55987)
this seems finally fixed, the status of the settings is correct even after restarting Vivaldi.
-
Looking at the [themes] I hoped in a fix for VB-49541 too
-
@Hadden89 That is not changing colour values?
-
@potmeklecbohdan exactly
-
Nice bug (but I could reproduce it only once and only in the same profile):
- close all tabs including the last one (I did it using MG ↓←, if that matters)
- the newly created tab is not displayed, you have to switch to it
-
@Gwen-Dragon
Tnx, is not a big issue, but is there since 2.4 snapshots. -
Unrelated to the fixes declared in here, I can finally say that after this update my extensions do not self corrupt anymore just by clicking their extension icons.
In the past month I pratically had to "repair" extensions every other time I clicked, for example, the uBlock Origin icon to access the element picker.
So far so good. -
I appreciate that you managed to get the snapshot out for us. But feel bad that someone had to come into work on the weekend.
This snapshot feels a bit snappier. Not sure if it is the minor speedup from VB-55769, but opening new tabs does feel faster.
I've only tried closing the browser once, but it closed immediately. So hopefully the issue I've been having with the last few snapshots where closing the browser took a long time (10+ seconds to close) has been resolved.
-
Finally, it would be useful to get rid of the function, which every time the user enters a special character, e.g. " ; etc. in the search bar always treats it as a website. This is a small but sometimes annoying problem, especially when typing a version of a program.
-
I'm not sure if your team know about this, but, I write just in case, please don't treat it as unimportant
on hdd your browser under windows was slow, under linux it was fast
on ssd under windows [doesn't matter if 10 or not] your browser is """""""""""fast"""""""""" but you can feel it's still unoptimized, under linux it's really really fastso if you reading this, please, really, do optimization for windows because even new edge chromium or disenter are faster under win 10/8.1 or 7
-
@jagth88 If you feel the team should have a look at your issue, please open a ticket for them - makes more sense. In general, speed is always a concern both for Chromium and of course our beloved browser.

In modern Japanese slang, the term Otaku is mostly equivalent to "geek" or "nerd". To me it has more to do with the release cycle of Chromium, guess we will see more frequent snapshots in the next time.
