Separate zoom level on devtools

It's very helpful if devtools can zoom in or out independent from display tab.

And cannot they? Just focus the devtools (click somewhere inside them) and zoom. Or this doesn't work for you?

@Gwen-Dragon thanks, docked mode can be zoom separate. but usually I use the undocked mode....

Hey @Gwen-Dragon - is there still no traction on this issue? I just moved over from chrome, and am pretty well sold on Vivaldi, but this is problematic enough it might send me back until it gets sorted out - I need my dev tools on their own screen, but my eye's aren't so good that I can use them at the same zoom-size as the screen-sizes I'm developing for...

@Gwen-Dragon I can focus the browser window and zoom the browser window independently of dev-tools window --> that's not the issue.

The issue is that I can't focus the dev-tools window and zoom the dev-tools independently of the browser. If I'm focused on the dev-tools in a pop-out window and zoom in, the browser window zooms at the same rate, but displays that it's not changed at all.

Example:

browser window is at 100% zoom
I open dev-tools in pop-out window
I focus on de-tools pop-out window
I hit zoom-key (ctrl + "+") on dev-tools to bring dev-tools up to 125% -> browser appears to zoom width to 125%, but not height
Status bar at the bottom shows that browser zoom is still set at 100%.
I focus back to browser window and zoom out
height appears to zoom out, but width appears to stay zoomed to 125%

As far as I can tell, zooming the dev-tools messes up the aspect ratio of the browser, but not vice-versa. I don't see a workaround for having dev-tools zoomed at a different level from the browser with aspect ratio remaining remotely usable. Please attempt reproduction on this forum page to see what I'm talking about.

@PDXfoster I am using Vivaldi 3.0.1874.38 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on Windows 10 Home 1909 and it looks like dev tools in a pop-out window can have independent zoom.

I don't have a 2nd screen to test on at the moment, so can you try having both windows on the same screen, as this worked on my system, to help narrow down the possibilities? It would also help if you could give your Vivaldi and Operating System versions.

Here is the zoom working independently in dev tools on my system with zooming being done with Ctrl + +

There was one zoom change in the dev tools that changed the main browser window, but it quickly corrected itself.
