Further address bar fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1587.4

@Thot I don't know if you mean this but I just re-reported this
(VB-55031) Crash after changing any site settings
I'm quite tired to see Vivaldi crashing doing everyday operations like this.
on any site, for example https://forum.vivaldi.net
click the padlock, site settings, change anything, for example Location: ask(default) -> Allow
close the site settings tab, on the forum.vivaldi.net tab appears a yellow banner asking to reload
press reload
Vivaldi crashes. -
@Para-Noid said in Further address bar fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1587.4:
Why does the stable release have the +/- for page zoom and the snapshot still has the slider?
For what it's worth, I prefer the +/- for adjusting the zoom.Stable v2.6.1566 (upper) Snapshot v2.7.1587 (lower)
Are you sure you didn't change the settings yourself for your profile on stable?
Coincidentally I just (literally a couple of days ago) went through most of my installs to change everything to the +/- buttons - so I don't think stable is +/- by default. I will look at my wife's profile in stable to check it's still using the (inaccurate, space-wasting, hard-to-use) slider.
Edit: I made this change since I tried the +/- and preferred it years ago, then someone mentioned last week that the option is now obscurely buried as settings -> appearance -> window appearance -> use button in range controls

Seems to me that the 'Find in page' feature has some problems again (on MacOS at least), it's happened to me quite a few times since yesterday that when doing option+g (find next), Vivaldi would be casted into the infinite loop of death.
-
@iAN-CooG I've followed your steps to test it and the site reloads just fine with the altered settings without any crash. So, not confirmed.
-
@npro I can repro on both my win7 32 bit pcs
-
@iAN-CooG I can confirm this issue on Mac.
MacBook Pro Early 2015 / macOS 10.12.6 Sierra / Vivaldi 2.7.1587.4
-
@ian-coog: Sorry, my fault. I meant the Site-Information (Lock-Icon in the Address-Bar). I click on it, release the click, and Vivaldi crashes. This on every Site I tested, even Wikipedia. mac OS Mojave.
-
@Gwen-Dragon It happens randomly. Either the monitor got stuck or move a little later

I did enabled it just for this bug, but it needs to be fixed. I do not like the auto complete inside the address bar.
It will must be fixed on the next Snapshot. Keep an eye on the changelog.

Using the current stable install here and it has the slider - definitely not upgraded with the latest release of stable...

@PardusPars Also OK here. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5). May be a font caching problem?
-
@PardusPars A screenshot of console view (ctrl+shift+I), especially red text, may help to find the culprit.
No issue here, probably a font/language issue used by the site. Try also to change the webpage zoom (some sites don't blend correctly at particular values) -
I am running this snapshot, and the 2.6 release as well. After installing this snapshot it seems Flash is disabled in the snapshot but still works in the 2.6 release. I use Flash for weather radar maps.
My operating system is Linux Mint 19.1 - 64 bit.
In Vivaldi -> Help -> About, both 2.6 and this snapshot have the same info listed for Flash: "32.0.0.207 /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libpepflashplayer.so"
Has Flash been disabled, or is this a result of the recent move to Chromium/Chrome 76 in this release? Or perhaps my system is borked?
Also, a quick "thanks" to the V team for all of your hard work on this truly greatest browser!!
-
@mossman Yeah, I did manually change it to the +/- a while back. I just didn't remember doing it. It was a feature request that got a lot of upvotes. I was one of them. That was some time ago.

Enabling Flash (via site settings/prefs) in 2.6 Stable works.
However, in 2.7.1587.4 it doesn't; I just get the Flash-blank saying "right-click to enable plug-in", but that doesn't work either. -

@Avalanchian Flash is working fine on Win10. My Mint install is broken, so I can't test on Linux.

Thanks all who replied about my Flash issue, and for opening VB-52982 Gwen. I'll just sit tight and see if the next few builds somehow resolve it. Thanks again all!
