(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests

Middle click and/or ctrl+click on speed dial icons should open them in a new tab (edit: this seems to work intermittently?)
Middle click and/or ctrl+click on the back button should open previous page in a new tabLove what you guys are doing btw
-
I really would like the right-click-option "open in background tab".
Making some of the most popular chrome plugins work would be nice, too (Ghostery!) -
A delopment-tool (F12) would be nice!
-
I'd love to have some buildt-in direct-download management options, such as:
- Resume interrumpted download (one that works after closing the browser) ["Dynamic file segmentation and connection reuse"]
- Brandwidth control
- Acceleration
- Organizing functions on download page (some sort of categories)

These are the features that keep me using Opera 12.17:
-> Dockable dragonfly.
-> Links sidebar. I use this almost everyday.
-> Session manager. The crux of my workflow.
-> Render RSS feeds. Old Opera had a clean and tidy page for this that made navigating RSS feeds a joy.
-> Site preferences and UserJS/UserCSS.
-> Ability to manage tab stacks. Also CTRL+Z to re-open tab.
-> Auto-reload option.
-> Ability to tile tabs (Doubt this is possible under webkit though).
-> IRC.
-> Increment page when spacebar is used at the bottom of the page. This is an incredibly useful feature that I use this all the time for browsing Google results and only have to use a single button (spacebar) to navigate.
-> Fit to width -
auto update feature would be nice

auto update feature would be nice
They're in the middle of adding "check for update" feature. Auto update will be somewhat behind that, I'm sure.

There are too many comments to read through, so I'm sorry if this was already requested and I didn't see it.
I would really like to be able to use the panels while in full screen mode.
Use example:
While browsing i can open the notes panel, take some notes, close the panel and continue browsing. I really love spatial navigation feature (yes, I'm a programmer, not a die hard emacs/vim user but I like the ability to work without taking my hands off the keyboard).
Currently I need to get out of full screen mode to open a panel close it and go back to full screen, too many keys.Oh and btw, Ctrl + Q is GOD'S BLESSING! the ability to change the order your options show up would be a nice addition (i.e. i want the search to be the first option, speed dial second and bookmarks last ), but I'm not crying over it, yet.
Cheers and keep up the good work, I'm so excited to finally see a browser with all the features I only dreamed about.
-
I really would like the browser to behave like Firefox when it opens up, what this means is.: I would like the browser to load only the tabs only when you activate them.
-
Please, please, bring Opera 12 session management to Vivaldi, we're thousands of people who have a lot of .WIN session files

Couple feature requests. I know at least on of them has been requested before, so ill just consider it a vote for that feature!
1. Open in background tab option when right clicking
2. I love having my tabs open in a sidebar, but I think there could be more distinction between tabs (stronger boarder color or maybe just showing a larger page icon with the site description rather than a preview of the page). It gets pretty clustered when a bunch of tabs are open
3. A hot key or button for a read mode / minimal UI mode. I really like having both side bars open for general browsing, but sometimes I need to have another app side by side a website. A button that removed almost all of the UI and just presented the webpage would be awesome for this. The side bars, search bar, navigation buttons and even URL bar just get in the way and take up space when you want side-by-side.
Great browser!

I would like to see a option to choose to start off where i left off meaning all the tabs and sites i has open before show each time i launch the browser even after crash and reboot. Second option to choose to see a home page every time i open it. Last be have the option to choose have the new tab page should every time i launch browser. I would like this because every other browser has it that i have used and it would be very helpful because i use the option a lot of starting where i left off.

"Start where I left off" is the ONLY option in Vivaldi right now. Start with home page or startpage will be offered soon, I expect.

Great work so far!
=> Address Bar
The usability function I'd like to see is blend, when you have chosen to hide the address bar (or you're in full screen mode) that it blends in when pressing 'Ctrl + L'. And blends out again once the address isqueried. This would allow to freely navigate and use the instant searches without obfuscating the working area. -
Great browser, and great work! I've used Opera for more than 10 years, and Vivaldi is surely gonna become my new browser of choice! But not just yet
- I'm on OS X. Cant swipe back/forward with trackpad
- +/- for zoom in/out, coz slider on bottom isn't good.
- TabStacking… Finally! But try to use it as Opera did, since I can't distinct pages like this. And reading thru comments, I can see I am not the only one with this problem.
- Sessions. Please bring them asap. Lots of power users simply can't use browser without sessions. And Window management like Opera did
- Better use of Speed Dial. Grouping them, etc.
I could go on and on, but as a developer, I understand all of this will take time, so I wish you all the luck in the world. Make from Vivaldi what you once made with Opera, and users will return. I'm now on Safari, but would jump to Vivaldi in a heartbeat when you reach more mature phase.
Once again, thank you for all this fenomenal work!

Adding exceptions for certificates (e.g. self signed certs) like it was handled in the good old Opera would be great.
Ideally, it should be possible to do this with 1 or 2 clicks. (Warning window "the certificate is not trusted because…. " and a button " I know what I am doing, add exception", maybe followed by a further confirmation screen.
Kind regards

to be able to design our blogs like we did in Opera, the blogs are very plain and black and white as in Opera we had backgrounds and colors font and styles .. Any suggestions would help.
-
I would love to see the feature as yandex have done . Click on the browser url box and they would open a overlay window for all speed dial tabs . so in that way any url we dont have to just type in any tab . Just check how yandex have implemented its really a handy feature while navigating through speed dials opening into an existing tab . or may be even a new tab also we wont need to have a speed dial page like that . its a really an earnest request please include that feature .

It would be nice to have history in the sidebar.
-
It would be awesome to have some kind of bookmark stack.
Meaning you can create one-time bookmarks to come back to a site at some later point, but once you used the bookmark, it deletes itself again. This would a great thing to ease longer research sessions.
