Vivaldi 2.4: Next level Toolbar Customisation
-
Today's update seems to have done something with my Bookmarks list when i click on the "More bookmarks" icon.
In previous updates/upgrades i would be able to identify the website due to the information to the right of the icons, now i have to take the browser out of it's maximized state, since the list is no longer appearing inside of the browser but now to the right/outside the borders of the browser.
This occurred on both linux and windows 10 after the update to version 2.4.

@jason86: I have the same problem in linux, the window of more bookmarks is outside the browser and having the browser maximized is not seen correctly
-
Nice update.
2 minor things I'd like added:
-Ability to edit the displayed profile name within the browser
-Guest profile desktop shortcutThanks
-
@ruario That was fast! Nice

The toolbar customization is not even close to being perfect yet. Below is a customized FIREFOX Toolbar. There I can move buttons across the entire bar. In Vivaldi with the new update i still can't have the Home button after the search bar or the refresh button between the address bar and search bar. Please add these features. I really want to switch to Vivaldi because of Chrome Addons but i can't switch if i can't customize the buttons as i wish. Please make the following image possible for Vivaldi. Thanx.

@GST
That's the goal, but it takes time. -
Nice release. Getting better with each new release.
@GST Considering where Vivaldi started, V is getting there one step at a time. Chrome has been around over three times as long as Vivaldi. Also considering V has a relatively tiny development team V is doing a great job getting everything done. IMHO Vivaldi is already bazillion times better than Chrome. Chrome is now a Vivaldi wannabe.
Now to your point...IIRC you can't move buttons around in Chrome nor can you remove buttons. I'm not sure on this since I no longer use Chrome. At least we know V is working on this. We know a lot more about what V is working on.

Here's a whole bunch of tags to investigate...https://forum.vivaldi.net/tagsedit: Thanks to @Nekomajin I meant Firefox. But my referring to Chrome wasn't entirely wrong.

@Para-Noid
He was speaking about Firefox. He wants to switch to Vivaldi from Firefox, because of the Chrome addons. -

@Nekomajin Fixed it. Now we can all have a good laugh.

I only use one Profile in Vivaldi, but just out of curiosity:
How can I change the name and the icon of my default profile? I know where my profile is stored locally, but couldn't find the right files.

@Gwen-Dragon it's
chrome://settings/manageProfile
too bad vivaldi changes all chrome: to vivaldi: even when it's not needed -

@Gwen-Dragon I know, it's another of the incosistencies in Vivaldi, it doesn't work if you drag and drop the selected text in the address bar tho, so the form with chrome: is preferred for internal chromium pages.
Try vivaldi://about with select and go and then select and copy&paste or drag& drop and you'll see more comical behaviour -
@ruario: I can confirm this too. After installing update from v2.3 to v2.4, I've closed vivaldi browser as soon as I saw red "x" button, since I only use vivaldi in --incognito. "Whats new" page was opening every time I started the browser in private mode, until I opened a new normal window and closed "Whats new" tab. Browser is set to start with start page, vivaldi x32, win 8.1 x64. Other than that, it's a tasty update, thanks!

Thanks for the hard work but when will you be making the bookmark bar folders drag-configurable? We can't move anything in the folders to rearrange their order, or we can't right click on anything in the folders, like, it's 2019 guys. Please.
-
@para-noid: i wasn't trying to belittle Vivaldi. I just threw a screenshot out there to make developers aware of how the final goal in this regard could look like. For now i am still using firefox. I have tried all the browsers out there and Vivaldi is the only browser i would see as a true alternative to Firefox. Chrome is not an option at all for me (!) mainly because of privacy concerns.

Each version of Vivaldi just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the great work!
-
At least bookmarks customization!!!
-
@shadess: And also changing avatar would be nice to have. Now it seems I can't..?
