Minor update for Vivaldi 2.4
-
@s_ta_s: I can drag in local extensions. You need to switch on developer mode but that was always true
-
@atlanx: which Operating System and OS version.
-
@chas4: You can enter whatever you like there but I can only imagine that putting an emoji in the UA will result in a world of hurt.

I use last couple of builds of this really nice browser, I like all the features and everything except two things:
- this browser drains laptop battery quickly (not as quickly as google chrome but not as efficient as Firefox).
- the smooth scrolling is not as smooth as Firefox which I'm using for more than a year.
if both of these issues fixed then I'll definitely move to Vivaldi.
-
@ruario I confirm that it works, both in Stable and in Snapshot.

I'm very happy with this update for the simplest of reasons. This is the first update that has remembered my pinned tabs after the update. I know, a small thing that I got around by having the two pinned tabs on my speed dial page, but you know its the little things in life that make us happy. Also a few updates back the flashing of the browser when scrolling through facebook was fixed has stopped driving my nuts. So thanks again for all your hard work. I do love using this browser for everything.

@ruario, re "[Regression] Can’t play video on dailymotion.com," what makes the powers that be decide when one site gets a browser.js-style fix when another with the same user agent issue doesn't?
In other words, why isn't this handled more aggressively?

Great news! However, I noticed an issue when I tile tabs, and when I need to type something in of them (ec. Word online, Todoist...), typing is slow and buggy. Please, fix this problem, because I am sure many people use Tile tabs feature for typing something, and this is really annoying. Thank you in advance.

@ruario
I have gotten one site change with 'dog poop' UA string a number of years ago
-
@ruario Could it be on vivaldi://components The Widevine Content Decryption Module - Version?
Looks like based to Amazon's help article (which I ask them to update it with current info since they last did it almost a year ago) Linux for HD content might not be supported. -
I'm waiting for fingers gestures (swipe back, fwd, etc) to complete use on my Surface Go.

@ruario said in Minor update for Vivaldi 2.4:
@talgarik: Noted and fixed in the snapshots. There are various criteria that help us to decide if we backport. We still may backport this in a future minor update but even if we don't, it will be fixed in 2.5 in any case.
am I doing something wrong or for whatever reason 2.5 has been released without fixing it?
-
@TalGarik Trying it on the latest dev (which is 2.5, as of now), and it's working. On Windows, at least, where it definitely wasn't working before. Specific mention of Linux above though, for some reason. Does the OS matter now?
-
@rseiler I don't know if it is OS related now, I hope to hear from @ruario about it, but I can confirm that on Kubuntu 18.04 (with Vivaldi stable updated to 2.5) does not work, I am puzzled though.
