Can we get an actual bookmark button not just the toolbar?
-
i have MANY bookmarks and so far it is working pretty well. i hate the bookmarks bar personally. i hate the extra room it takes and having to see it up there. is there a way to have a bookmarks button to open a pull down similar to firefox or the opera of old? instead of having to always open the bookmarks manager (which is very wonky imo and does not work very well at the moment) thanks

You can open and close your entire bookmarks list with the button in the little skinny panel selector bar…

yes but i want to not have any extra panels open. just a simple button at the top. for me the side panel with the bookmarks button is even wider then the bookmarks bar… so its either one or the other. and yes i can make the side bar hide but then i have to go to the menu to view it again. i have all extra panels hidden. in the original version i tried i could simple click the panel bar and hide it then click it to show it again but that seems to be removed now.

There's a button at the bottom of the screen, far left corner that opens and closes the panel selector.
As far as bookmarks in panel versus drop-down, I agree there should be a choice. My choice of course would never be the drop-down, as that covers page content. At least a bookmark panel moves the content over, rather than covering anything. And I'm sure the button you want will come along - either as a default part of the UI, or as an option.

agree!
start bar in old opera was good for me.
maybe they could make bookmark bar act the same way as start bar did (with additional button for accessing all bookmarks not just those in the bar.) -
Can't you just put folders inside the Bookmark bar folder (and folders within folders)?

This is great. Thank you for showing it. I hadn't thought of it.
I believe the bookmark toolbar is working well as-is and if Vivaldi does wish to alter behavior for other that they will make those an option. I like it the way it is now.P.S. How did you make the image display in the post? And not as a pop-up link?

1. Click Add File
2. Browse local folders and pick your file
3. Put the cursor where you want the picture
4. Click Insert (you won't see the picture until you submit the post - just a placeholder)

What? There IS a bookmarks bar now? Where? How do I enable it? I don't see it. Nor any option for it.

It's in settings in the LATEST snapshot, available from the Vivaldi Team BLOG (accessible from the top menu on this page).

that's ok, but let's have a look back at the first post:

I would like to see the bookmarks in the menu. Maybe between "View" and "Tools" or "Tools" and "Window".
The folder in the bookmarks bar could be a temporary thing, but it shows a full tool bar line for only one folder. I don't like that.

Sorry. Won't work then. Please ignore my post.

I think you'll find it's a graphics markup of a Firefox image… and his point is that he wants the same capabilities in Vivaldi.
