First snapshot of 2019 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1420.4

@LonM Some interesting bugs with "Show Close Window Confirmation Dialog" enabled in Settings, Startup.
- Move tabs to current window, then cancel
- Move tabs back to window with 0 Tabs works

@Para-Noid Sorry, that's my English… I haven't known the word.
No apology necessary. I put in that phrase as a sign of my approval. Besides you did not say anything wrong at all. You were stating the proper tag as "In Progress". Which is completely correct. Never apologize for being right. Ever.

@ruario Hugs and kisses! You folks are awesome. I can barely wait to see what goodies you have planned in 2019. Thank you!
-
An impressive changelog. Great work, team!

And the nasty habit of vivaldi stalling is also still there.

[Settings] Add option to keep last selected search engine
Erm, for the dim & clueless amongst us, would someone please explain what this does, what it's for, what problem it solves? I understand every single word individually, but as a composite sentence its meaning eludes me. Mind you, i've not had my morning coffee yet...
-
@Steffie I think is an option for the search field.
It remembers what search engine you used as last one at the next usage. -

at the next usage
Thanks. Do you mean the next time V is launched [rather than reverting to the nominated default SE (in which case, default is no longer default)]? I hardly ever close V, so it doesn't much affect me. Otoh afaik tla fwiw imo across one continuous V session spanning days, my search bar does retain whatever SE i last used... even before this apparent "improvement"... so i remain puzzled.
-
@Steffie The search engine on the Start Page, did not remember the last used search engine before. Now it does.
-
@Steffie for example just open a new window, the search field will remember the last used engine instead of resetting it to the default. It's about configurability to user preference, and I like that.

Hi, can you confirm if you find the following regression?
When "Floating Panel" is selected, it is no longer possible to drag tabs into the Bookmarks Panel. -
- [Page Interaction] Focus page upon pressing Homepage button (VB-36693)
Sweet baby Jesus, thank you for this fix!
-
Ok gracias for the explanations. Neither issue affects me, but it's nice to now understand what the issues were, & good news for those who were affected.

️This Snapshot could be EXTREMALLY UNSTABLE! ️
I got 10 crashes in first 10 minutes. Going for a record...
On average I got crash every 1-15 minutes despide of disabled extensions and closed tabs.... It's barely usable
PS. Did anyone else encountered problems with unclickable pages with Google search results?... Looks like broken since previous SS-hot...
-
@ROTFL I had the exact opposite experience with this snapshot, not a single random crash, while in previous 2 snapshot I had to rebuild&refresh my profile every 2 days on my home PC, while on the work PC everything went smooth.
unclickable pages with Google search results
not that I have noticed, can you replicate the same problem with a search you can share?
-
Problem with History in whole window. I had the history for today, then I click on 'month' : I have all the days, but nothing to go back to 'week' or 'today'. (or I don't see it ;-))

@Folgore101 Confirmed. When Floating panel is selected, it's not possible to drag bookmarks in Bookmarks Panel or notes in Notes Panel.

I don't use bookmarks bar, instead I work only with speed dial. However, in settings, does the drop-down menu "Select Bookmark Bar Folder" work for you? Because for me it does nothing and I don't know for how long this is happening. Some time ago I had selected speed dial as my bookmarks bar folder but now it is defaulted to all bookmarks and cannot be changed.

@ROTFL Awkard.
I'm testing this with several addons, mods and so on. No crashes yet. But honestly I didn't test the known bugs said above. I guess they triggers the crashes. I'm not using the auto-closing panel or moving/detaching tabs between windows (both known).
