Whatsapp Web gif problem
-
First off all sorry if this was already asked.
I have searched but not found.Here is my problem in steps:
- Open web.whatsapp.com
- Connect/login your phone/whatsapp
- Select a contact
- Instead of writing him/her click the emoticon icon
- Select "GIF"
- When the list of gifs is loading try to change the category, i.e. "reaction"
- After few seconds the Vivaldi stops to react and the cpu usage raises to 100%.
Only killing the process helps.
Thanks for your help.

@kkromkowski in an older version of vivaldi I had the same problem, vivaldi got unresponsive, so I never tried it a second time
feel free to report a bug here -
@derday Thanks for info.
I created a bug report.
If someone would be interested its number is: VB-45712 -
Thanks for your report @kkromkowski unfortunately our dev team was not able to reproduce it. Are you using any extensions? Also you have checked the task manager (see in the menu, under Tools) to see if any other tab is using a lot of CPU?

@gaelle @kkromkowski
for me I can say, that the bug has vanished.
but now open the GIF section, the first gifs are displayed but after some rows, the gifs aren't displayed (like a grey placeholder)
if I click at one of it, I get an error message
I checked the vivaldi taskmanger and the gpu process raise from 370MB to 740MB RAM, when I've the GIF search open. if I close the search, the RAM stays almost high.
not until I close and reopen the whatsapp tab, that RAM from gpu process goes down to 370MB -

If yes I will contact them. -
@gaelle Thank you for the answer. I am trying to answer you but I am blocked by akismet. We will see if this one will go through
I am using two extensions (have installed them but not activated for the web-dot-whatsapp-dot-com):- User-Agent switcher
- mobile browser emulator.
I have checked the task manager also and only the tab with this website goes so high with cpu and ram consumption.
Also if I will kill it relatively quick, vivaldi itself stays stable.However, I have to admit that I also cannot reproduce this issue on my other machine.
Maybe there is something system-specific.
I will check tomorrow on another 2 PCs with different versions of Windows and let you know. -
@kkromkowski
Hi, try to disable hardware acceleration in vivaldi://settings/webpages/
It is may a driver problem, some user report similar problems on different webpages.Cheers, mib

@kkromkowski Regarding the askimet issue you have that may be based on the reputation system as you can't post links when you have something like lesser than 3 upvotes as a security thing to block bots - so here you'll have my upvote.
