Create tiles from multiple selected tabs
-
Hallo guys.
I'm using Gentoo Linux with Vivaldi 2.0.1309.37 (Stable channel) (64-Bit).
I wanted to create tiles belonging to a specific topic (e.g. Gentoo websites).
In this forum I have read, that for these tiles, I need to select the tab entries in the panel (upper left symbol 'V'), then the windows panel to get the tabs listed and here that when I press the <Shift> key, I could select multiple entries to add them with right click context menu as tiles.-> I cannot select multiple tab entries in Panel/ windows Panel / tabs list.
When I click a second one, the first one is deselected again.
My aim is to create a new Vivaldi window with specific tiles which appear, when I open a new tab, so that I have a visual overview about the existing links and websites to open the necessary one. With tabs the I have no preview. So, can I make my own tiles with already existing tabs, best with several tabs listed in the windows panel?
And could I have different Vivaldi windows with different tiles in the background, each saved as extra window?Thank you in advance.

@a-leconte See help on Tab Tiling
Hold Ctrl and Ctrl+Shift to select a range of tabs.
Right-click on any tab and use Stack tabs by host.

When I click a second one, the first one is deselected again.I don't understand your issue... As said @Pesala , you have to hold
CTRL
+left click
to select multiple tabs. Doesn't this work for you?
To select a range of tabs, select the 1st one, then holdSHIFT
and thenleft click
on the last one.It should work in the windows panel, or in the tab bar.
In the tab bar, you can also
CTRL
+double click
to select every tabs from the same domain/website.My aim is to create a new Vivaldi window with specific tiles which appear, when I open a new tab, so that I have a visual overview about the existing links and websites to open the necessary one.
You can right click the tabs and send them to a new window, and then select them all in the new window and tile them. I don't think you can open every new link as a new tile though, you will have to tile the tabs again.

Normally, Shift-click would be the action to extend a selection (to select all items between the previously selected item and the one clicked on). That's what every file manager, word processor, etc. program does I can see why the user would have assumed that ...

Thank you all for reply.
I have read, that I could left click on <panel> (left up on top, the 'V' symbol), then the 'window' entry to receive a list of listed tabs. These entries are much more comfortable to read, which content is in that site. Here then I should select with <shift> and left click. But this doesn't work. I cannot really select any entry, when I right click or left click, a new tab is opened. But maybe I'm wrong here. Anyway, I need a list of (opened) tabs, where I can select multiple websites.
I want to select such entries (of multiple selection) and then collect them to background tiles which are displayed, when opening a new, virgin tab or a new Vivaldi window.
At the moment, here are standard tiles with ebay, amazon, Vivaldi and so on displayed. I want to have replaced them by my own choice with several selected tab entries. If possible more than only 16. And, if possible, different for every Vivaldi window. Is that possible?-A. Leconte

@a-leconte Unless you enable the option in the Window Panel to "Activate with Single Click," you can Left click to select one tab, then Ctrl+Click to select any others, or Shift+click to select a range of tabs. With the single click to activate option enabled, always use Ctrl+Click and/or Ctrl+Shift+Click to select tabs for tiling or other operations on multiple tabs.

Hallo Pesala.
I think, I was wrong in the place, where to find the Window panel. I am not a native English speaker and so I have checked for description of 'Vivaldi window panel'. I found, it is on the left side of Vivaldi, the window symbol (under the clock symbol). Of course I know this side bar, when downloading or adding a permanent url. But the window panel for listing all opened tabs, I did not realize before.
So, seeing the tabs list now, I simply could select one or multiple entries with <shift> and left click or <ctrl> and left mouse click.
With right click then I could choose 'tile' and somehow I get a tiled new tab, which seems to show, what I am looking for. A big preview on my selected pages.
I will try it out more to find out, if this attitude, this procedure will lead to my benefit in the end.
Thank you very much. (Do you know how to mark threads as <solved> here in Vivaldi forums?-A. Leconte

You should be able to edit your first post in the thread, and select tag it as "resolved" from the field at the bottom of the edit window.
