Some videos still not playing
-
I thought that 1.14 was supposed to fix this problem. About half the videos, even within an app like youtube, do not play. Also, when I do a version check for Flash I do not get the little box telling me my current version, so I have to go to the app to see what I am using before updating.
Will this be fixed for the older hardware or do I have some option other than buying a new iMac?

Check if Vivaldi 1.15 fixes it
Vivaldi does not use the same plug in as Safari does. For Flash Player you need the PPAPI plug in. It will show if you have it install on vivaldi://about/On the Flash Player about page https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/about/ you need to enable Flash Player for that site (it is the button in the next to the address bar, it might be a lock if the site is HTTPS or a puzzle piece
If do not have Flash Player you can download it from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ select your OS and then pick Flash Player for Opera and Chromium - PPAPI
Many of the video on youtube are HTML5.

upgrade the version can fix the problem

I too have not been able to play many videos. For example this one from the New York Times:
I'm using Vivaldi 1.15 (1.15.1147.36) and I installed the latest PP Flash player AdobeFlashPlayer_29pp_a_install
-
i found videos not playing when embedded in iframes; my fault - just remembered i had enabled a vivaldi://flag that blocked them! All working fine for me so far.

@apta Try this on the New York Times site https://help.vivaldi.com/article/enabling-flash/
-
@apta You don't need flash to play this video. I rid my whole system of flash and the video plays fine. There's something else going wrong for you.

Still not working on 1.15 on a 2010 iMac, but due to Mojave I will have to buy new hardware this fall. Still a disappointment.

@bartinva Did you write a bug report?
Some stuff can be fixed, some not (there are >6000 ways how websites can mess up AV stuff. That is no joke), but no chance without a bug report. Please always add a direct link to the example page that does not work, e.g. not only "youtube.com" but "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRyEfSaj_lc"
There might of course be a chance that the OS is too old and missing some of the needed stuff, then it can only be fixed by a newer OS - Apple is somewhat asinine in that regard because it often affords new hardware too, but MS is not much better. Linux is mostly unproblematic because there exist full libffmpeg libraries in the repositories, which can deal with it.

The other question is what is the operation system and version you are using.
