It would be nice to have a stronger line separating tabs. They kind of get lost in each other.

Another nice thing to have would be a darker theme, maybe something a user can choose. But, function comes before form, so it is not that important. I'm just not a fan of bright.

          Nice work, thank you!

          Some suggestions:
          [OL]

            • Make a centralized list of suggestions so users can opt in/out for each of them. A kind of Community Designed Browser
          • Keep browser small. On my Win7/32, just after start:
            [OL]

            • K-Meleon (Gecko): 45.000 K
          • SlimBoat (WebKit): 60.000 K

          • Vivaldi: 258.000 K (75.000 + 80.000 + 71.000 + 32.000)
            [/OL]

          • Add bookmarks also in main menu

          • In Bookmarks Panel, popup menu->Open: ask before opening folder (try to open a folder with over 70 links)

          • Don't empty trash at exit, make it persistent

          • Site preferences like Opera 12 plus link blocker

          • "Block site/domain" option: do not open pages from specified site/domain and remove it from search results

          • Customizable context menu

          • Line bookmarks for web pages, useful for long pages

          • Detached download manager: allow browser to close while keeping downloads active

          • Don't bloat the browser with third party services (Facebook, Skipe, etc…). If needed, make them available via extensions

          • Same about Mail and News, make them external

          • Do not use separate "update service" as Google, Opera does
            [/OL]

          Wolf

I'm impressed by how stable and polished is the tech preview.
Keep up the good work! 🙂

Here is my feature wishlist (not sure is some of these are already there and I missed them so… sorry if I did 😛 ):

            • Keyboard shortcuts to alter the zoom level of the current page (REALLY miss these! using the zoom slider it's not easy at all to achieve the desired zoom level since the slider is so small).
            • Option to automatically switch to a page when opened in a new tab.
            • Option to let me configure the downloaded files folder.
            • Option to let me choose a fixed color scheme for the interface.
            • Show download speed in real time for each download.
            • Java plugin to use the latest JRE (unluckily, bank websites and such do require this to always be up-to-date).

Hope to see these features in the final version.

            Thanks!

Shortcuts to complete domain entry by filling in TLD with .com, .net, .org, etc.

Type a word in address bar > ctrl+enter (wraps word in "http://"(word)".com" and immediately requests the URL)
ctrl+alt+enter = same as above but opens in a new tab

              shift+enter = .net
shift+alt+enter = .net open in new tab
              ctrl+shift+enter = .org
ctrl+shift+alt+enter = .org open in new tab

Wouldn't mind the following opera like wand, clear history. cookies on exit and being able to set your own homepage as yet you can try but it reverts back.

Hello, I would like to suggest READER MODE feature, which we know from Maxthon browser.

Reader mode allows you to view articles by adjusting font sizes and removing ads, UI design elements and other distractions.

                    How it works?
If you visit some page with text content (example), a small button which lets you to apply the Reader mode appears in the address panel. You can also set the font size, content width, background color and whether the reader mode should be automatically activated for that page.

Thank you for Vivald! I love Opera 12, and I hate what they did with 15 onwards! Opera was the perfect browser for thsoe who didn't want to go Chrome, and then they went Chrome themselves! Go figure…

Anyways, there are a few things I'd like you to change and add. First, the appearance. I'd like to be able to change the color of the browser freely - just give us a color palette to choose from and we're good (I don't like how it's red). Second, the panel on the right corner and its elements. I like having everything on top, so I'd like an option to put that bar horizontally instead, but the best part would be able to put it's buttons on the same row as the URL and Search bars. Of course, always letting people choose what they want to put and where.

I also like to have that space above the tabs bar like old browsers used to have. I don't know how it's called, but it's that space where the name of the program and the name of the site you're visiting is shown above the tabs. Also, being able to close tabs with SHIFT+Click.

Aside from that, just make it work like Opera 12 did and I'll be the happiest user on your forum! I currently am not using Vivald as my default browser because I still need extensions (Adblock, and Youtube Center), but as Vivald gets better I'll be shifitting to it! Thanks for your initiative, and I hope to see good results in the future!

A reading mode/view like that only shows the article.
                        For example before:

Opera's death is likely to be a good thing. At least we have more choices, Otter, Fifth, and now Vivaldi. 😃

It seems that no one mention:

                          • User/Author Mode

                          • Cached Image (without reloading webpage)
These two feature are useful with some messy pages.

                          • something similar to 'INI variables' (images, links,…) in Opera 12. That I can use external scriptable-downloader.

First of all thank you very much! It was really good news yesterday.
A really great job for a first tech preview!

As some users already pointed out, a very good guideline for features is Opera 12.17 (which is still my standard browser).

In addition I would like to see:
                            [ul]

                            • I use sessions a lot, have some 40 sessions mainly with references for different topics. It would be great if both selection (a main page, like speed dial) and administration (sorting, grouping) would be easier in Vivaldi than in Opera 12
                            • Site specific settings are very important to me. It would be great if also proxy settings could be site specific
                            • Offline mode
                            • Freely configurable external source code viewer/editor (I'd take emacsclient :))
                            • Dragonfly!
                            • Good privacy support: cookie handling, custom randomization of preferences (against browser fingerprinting)…
                            • I' m in a situation where I frequently have to switch between networks with different proxy settings. It would be great if switching between these different environments would be easier or even automatic (e.g. using local ip addresses)
                            • I don't use Opera Mail as a mail client but I frequently use RSS feeds
                            • Speed dial is great, but it should be speedy. If I like scrolling, I could also open the bookmarks tree. A few tabs (customizable) in a top row are ok, I would choose "web", "sessions", "feeds". But no more than two clicks to get the page loaded
                            • Private notes to web sites, which can be opened whenever I view the page would be a nice feature. Make the note attachable to (part of) the page, or part of the address. These notes are organized hierarchically top to bottom and bottom to top. So I can navigate through the tree of notes (part of page <-> page <-> site <-> root). With such notes I read through posts on this forum make notes, mark a line of text, or an image add it to the note, add my own remarks and finally view when I write my own post
                              [/ul]

                            Just some thoughts.
                            Thank you again for Vivaldi.

First off, great job with the browser! I think it is fantastic.
One crucial thing it is missing is extensions. I know they will most likely be added sooner or later.
Also, another thing seems to be that I can't use my extra mouse buttons when in-browser. I have a bind on one of my extra mouse buttons to mute my microphone, and it doesn't seem to work.

I would love ability to put favorite website icons in one line with address bar as in attached picture, I was able to do that in Opera 12 and now I am using some custom skin in Maxthon (aka general UI flexibility)

It's really nice for most commonly used sites and it takes less space than additional bookmark bar and provides quick access to most used links, without needing to open speed dial window.

Proper support for touch devices would be nice. Scrolling seems fine but pinch to zoom and swipe gestures would be much appreciated.

Not sure if these were mentioned or not.

Could we get a script blocking feature built-in? This would be similar to the noscript plugin on Firefox that lets you select which scripts (flash or javascript) from which source (google analytics, trackers, etc.) are allowed. I want to be able to whitelist scripts that I know are safe.

Awesome looking browser guys! I'm looking forward to future updates and a first finished product. This promises to be great!

                                        A few requests:

                                        • ctrl-enter in the address bar should add .com at the end of the url
                                        • opening the browser should open the home page and not the url that was open when i closed the browser
                                        • browser title should contain the title of the current tab's webpage. this will allow integration with keepass autotype and make the windows taskbar tooltip more recognizable,

I'll cut to the chase. Like many, I use my web browser for professional work. I have also tried out every other browser out there. They all have their own ways of doing things, but in the end, the Firefox add-ons that are indispensable to me are Adblock plus, Noscript, and Tree style tabs. I already expect support for ICC v4 (crucial for graphics), userscripts and download management to work at least as well as Opera (before it became useless).

Although most people concerned about security won't choose to part with Noscript, it is probably too difficult to implement (blame Chrome). Tree style tabs, however, is the most feasible, and the most important. It is self-explanatory and more intuitive than any other bazillion tab organizing schemes out there, as the collapsible tree clearly explain a tab's relations / descendants and facilitates easy reorganization. This is a popular feature requested by many from Hacker News, Reddit, etc. Once you use it you will never go back (see the screenshot). There is a clunky version for Chrome (called Sidewise), but it is very buggy and tacked-on.

Opera was a pioneer in tab design. Now Vivaldi has the chance to capture the market with native tab trees. Ignore this request at your peril.

Another feature I'd like to see is regarding better organization for the Speed Dial. Sometimes I want to add or remove an item from Speed Dial, and as a result the position of all subsequent sites get messed up. I wish I could do the following actions:

                                            • Leave blank slots. If I want to put a site on the right most corner, I need to fill all the spaces between the first item in the row and the desired position. If I could leave blank slots between then, I could organize everything as I see fit.
                                            • Exchange the position of two slots. When I want to move an item, all the slots between the original position and the desired one get messed up. To avoid confusion and waste of time, I'd like to be able to exchange positions between two slots without altering the entire dial. A simple command for that (like SHIFT+LEFT CLICK, or even the scroll button on the mouse) could solve the problem.
                                            • I'd also like to be able to choose the image for each site. The standard could be a simple screenshot, as it is, but allow the user to select the site's logo or upload a custom image from the PC. There are sites that are hard to figure out by the screenshot alone, specially when they upload the visuals and you weren't aware of, and some sites you just don't want to let people know you have on your dial… ('¬_¬) not that I would know, though...
