Session not restoring after a quick close/open

Re: [Bug] Vivaldi won't open previous session after crash
Somewhat similar to the previous topic, only I don't have to crash Vivaldi at all. Happened to me twice already. Accidentally closed Vivaldi, re-opened it right away. Blank window without any previously opened tabs.

@antonavy Vivaldi can't save your session unless it has time to fully shut down all processes.
-
Well, if it shows that it fully closed (icon not active), it should terminate all processes, doesn't it? If it didn't terminate everything, it should stay open (like a separate process) with something like "wait until we shut down everything" and make sure it does close properly.
Because I didn't force close or anything like that. I just hit "exit" and then opened it. This definitely looks like a bug to me. -
@antonavy said in Session not restoring after a quick close/open:
wait until we shut down everything
I agree. That wait until we shut down everything message purpose it's a good idea.
Anyway, next time you can Save Open Tabs as Session from the File menu option before restart Vivaldi -
@antonavy "Icon not active" is not a signal for any application that all processes are shut down. That said. there is activity backstage to try to ensure that loss of sessions does not happen.

@marko-indaco Yeah, I know, thx. Just have to keep in mind and do that often enough just in case.
@Ayespy No, of course not, it's just what the user observes, didn't mean that an application should rely on that. -
Yes, for me since Vivaldi 1.13 often after closing the browser processes remained hanging in the task manager indefinitely. After about an hour after closing the browser, I even heard an alert from the extension about the new email... With the latest update (1.13.1008.40), this behavior has become permanent.
In consequence of this each time browser starts with no previous tabs, the browser thinks it is still open and opens up a new window. Helps to close the process manually in task manager after the exit, but it's frustrating. -
@3dmax
Hi, did you disabled "Background Applications"?
chrome://settings/?search=hardCheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin It helped, thanks! Strange why this option is enabled ...
-
@3dmax cool, yes, never understand why it is since beginning of Vivaldi.
Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin because it's enabled on chromium by default. I guess it's for leaving chrome apps active, I expect that to change in future.
