Quick question. Any new news about this issue?
"I have issue. All my Vivaldi browsers (stable and snapshot) not want to install on Linux OpenMandriva LX3. If I use GUI installer I get issue with installation. When I try install in console:
"Installation failed: vivaldi-unstable is in conflict with vivaldi-snapshot"
Same with install Vivaldi stable, but with stable I get error that stable is in conflict with vivaldi beta - and beta not exist right?
Anyway only solution for install Vivaldi in OpenMandriva is forcing installation by --nodeps parametr. So rpm -i --nodeps vivaldi.rpm
Sometimes ago I report bug to Vivaldi but no reply. I also report but to OpenMandriva here: https://issues.openmandriva.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2097
but look like it it browser bug." -
@angrypenguin: This has been ongoing for all the linux snapshots since the addition of the new Windows sidebar feature.
The snapshots are being built with a program class = 'vivaldi-stable' instead of 'vivaldi-snapshot'.
User luca247 has also been reporting this regularly in the blog comments, and so have others who are repeatedly asked to set Vivaldi as default again on each startup.
I tried asking in the blog comments a couple of snapshots ago whether this issue has been registered in the bug trackerbecause I didn't want to report it again if it was, but no response.
I think we will just have to report it multiple times as a new bug.
I wish there was public access to at least view the bug tracker - grrr!!!

@angrypenguin: You have a very very old Vivaldi package. We have not called them -unstable for some time. Remove any vivaldi-beta and vivaldi-unstable packages installed on your system and perhaps vivaldi-stable and vivaldi-snapshot for good measure. Then reinstall vivaldi-stable and vivaldi-snapshot and you should be ok.
The preferences will be kept when you uninstall.
-
@cheekybuddha: No that is not the same issue at all. AngryPenguin's issue is unrelated and he about packaging and installation only
-
@cheekybuddha: Oh and you don't need to report it again. I have seen it
-
Thanks for the new build!
@cheekybuddha : I confirm the Linux program class of snapshots is still "vivaldi-stable", but as @ruario said it does not impact the installation, so not related to AngryPenguin issue
Talking about Linux specific issue, any news about VB-33387 ? (no right click menu on a tab after a mouse gesture) Really annoying when you use mouse gestures a lot
-
Nice to see the search context menu fixed.
-
@ruario: I don't have vivaldi unstable or beta installed in system. Also every Vivaldi update I remove all vivaldi builds with "urpme vivaldi -a" and then trying installing new fresh snapshot or stable and still have this issue. Same with this snapshot - when I try install it via GUI installer I have error without any details but when I try install it via console I see again "Installation failed: vivaldi-unstable is in conflict with vivaldi-snapshot". Only rpm -i --nodeps vivaldi-snapshot.rpm can foreced installation for me.
-
@steffie: I guess you really needed to sleep
-
Thanks a lot for:
[Regression] Esc closes Vivaldi fullscreen when focused on page (VB-34397) -
Ummm... ok.
-
@cheekybuddha: don't know if it's solved but i even reported on the bugtracker the other day...lemme try this new snap
-
@ruario: Thanks for the clarification and the confirmation! Apologies for muddying the water :o
-
@guilimote: thanks for the clarification (see my above reply to ruario). I mis-read 'unstable' for 'stable' in AngryPenguin's post! :o
-
@luca247: I guessed you might have reported it - that's why I didn't want to do it again without checking first!
-
I updated from the normal release build to this snapshot to see if it fixed an issue with hidden listings in the address bar drop down - it did (cursor placement was thrown out by these hidden listings).
But one minor bug I've noticed with this so far is that one of the icons supplied for windows use is too large:
