Protected address bar
-
In Opera 12, the address bar was always protected.
I mean if you began typing stuff inside or just even focused the address bar, whatever happened in the main window content (loading a page, anything), the address bar would be kept stable and you can go on editing it.
Now in Vivaldi, it’s like in every other browsers, if you don’t wait stability of the page, you cannot afford typing in the address bar because it is reset by many events (page load, etc.).
Update
My post is not very clear.
Another example when you go to a page that redirects multiple times.
In Opera, as soon as you clicked the address bar, it would keep its text stable so you can delete, type any text you want with all the calm you need you like.
In Vivaldi you have to rush like hell because with each redirect the address bar field changes, even if it was focused and you were typing.Update 2

Reproduction steps
From any fully loaded page or new tab
Steps 3 and 4 must be done as fast as possible (before the page in step 2 is loaded):
- Press F8 (this focuses and selects address bar)
- Type yahoo.com or whatever big page you want (try to target a slow loading page)
- Press the Enter key, followed immediately by the F8 key, again (page loads and address bar is focused and selected again)
- Type whatever comes to your mind (either edit the current URL or type anything new like zerparieazupo pzeoiau zeiop u)
Expected result
The page requested in step 2 end up fully loaded and your text caret (editing cursor) is still in position where you keep typing your next URL.
Actual result
bug or regression compared to Opera presto.
The page requested in step 2 end up fully loaded, which makes the text being typed in address bar lost, replaced by loaded page URL, the address bar focus is lost at the same time.
This is the most hindering thing on pages that auto-reload.

@Pathduck said in Tab Tiling command improvements – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2035.3:
Thanks for the VB-71391 fix
I still notice the page will "steal" focus on finishing page load, which it did not do in 3.2. The user should be able to start editing the URL while the page is loading and not lose focus if the page finishes. Manually focusing the address bar should override any page/urlbar focus setting. ED: Reported as VB-71538.
Great, as I did never report it to the bug tracking system.
Thanks @Pathduck. -
@Gwen-Dragon is VB-71538 fixed?
I still have issues if I edit address bar during loading.
Either my text is replaced by loaded address (in early stages of loading/redirecting) or the address bar simply losses focus (in later stages of loading). -
