[Suggestion] Pulsating Icon for Tab Background Loading
-
!!! WARNING !!!
!!! The following images flicker and may cause headaches and seizure !!!
I've been thinking after looking at a topic in another category, where members ask for a non-static icon to indicate that something is loading in the background in a tab, and looking at Vivaldi's design I thought, why not a pulsating icon instead of rotating icons do other browsers already have? For me it would be another great innovation, coming out of the same thing that all browsers have!
How about like this:

I will wait for your opinions, boys and girls

The favicon element would have to be changed, if something like this would be implemented. The animation goes beyond the borders of the current element.

@gwen-dragon damn, too late, I already had 2 fits

lol
ok...

ARRGGH! Such flicker.
!!! Will cause headaches or seizure (epilepsy!). !!!Trust on me. Flashing lights are responsible for the beginning of episodes.
-
For some people, flashing stuff isn't desirable. For others, they may want it. After all, vivaldi is about empowering users to browse the way they want.
That said, I can understand various reasons why such a thing might not be implemented.
If you're still desperate to give it a go, I've implemented one using code which I have shamelessly stolen from this website: http://bradsknutson.com/blog/css-loading-icon-examples/ (note this site contains some of the same types of images).
Pop this code into your browser and it will override the default loading bar with the pulsating one that appears behind the favicon.
.progress-indicator { transform: scaleX(1) !important; } .progress-indicator.progressing::after { content: '.'; display: block; border-radius: 100px; width: 18px; height: 18px; border: 10px solid #C5F4EB; position: relative; top: -30px; left: -10px; animation: pulse 1s ease-in infinite; z-index: 2; visibility: visible; } @keyframes pulse { 0% { transform: scale(0); } 85% { opacity: 1; } 100% { transform: scale(1); filter: blur(5px); opacity: 0; } }
-
.... sorry, delete this.
-
@luetage Ah. I misunderstood. That's even easier, because thankfully the loading bar appears before the favicon in the code. CSS doesn't really like traversal but it luckily supports forward traversal to a sibling.
.progress-indicator.progressing + .favicon { animation: pulse 1s ease-in infinite; } @keyframes pulse { 0% { transform: scale(0); } 85% { opacity: 1; } 100% { transform: scale(1); opacity: 0; } }

I sincerely agree with @Gwen-Dragon , I find this an overstatement if not unnecessary.
-
@nlope He posted this in customization and extensions, not feature requests.
-
@luetage It's not about where he posted do you understand? In the title of the topic has suggestion, and in my view the images are not pleasant, on the contrary.
-
No, I don't understand. Vivaldi is all about personal choice. If anything we should support him in his quest to use the most vibrantly pulsating loading background tab there is. And even if this should get implemented, no one will ever force you to use it.
-
@luetage Think as you want :>
-
Funny that many here felt uncomfortable with the pulsating images that I sent, and that in this case I understand, but I completely disagree in what many commented that the developers would not put something that was not correct with some law of some countries, how can anyone feel nauseous or headache with such a small icon being implemented in the space I mentioned in the first topic? And why has not anyone complained about the current pulsating icon that appears when some media runs on some tab? It is not a matter of being uncomfortable, the fact is that they are taking notes erroneously just because I have added large, pulsating images, which is wrong yes, but is it that the minimum size up there in the tabs could be as uncomfortable as the current icon of media execution is?
-
@gwen-dragon think as you want too. sorry for your condition, trully, but i still with my suggestion until someone bring some better suggestion.
-
@gwen-dragon You are right with everything you said. But @Tchelows couldn't know posting such images could hurt someone else.
Why does Vivaldi Forum allow posting animated images in the first place? I think that's the point of interest here. Wouldn't it make sense for a company that tries to act in the best interest of all its users to proactively protect them by default? I suggest you contact a forum developer, who can take immediate action.
-
@luetage Maybe he did not really know, but the warning is on the subject. In the question you ask yourself why the Vivaldi Forum allows you to post this type of image, kind of agreeing in parts with this more goes from the conscience of each user, for example, I have vision problem (but I'm not blind) and I was kind of stunned with what I saw.

Oh yes, i laughed very much as i opened teh thread and got nausea and headache, so funny.
Pretty sure they meant funny as in "strange," not funny as in "that was humorous."
-
I think it's a good suggestion.
And for what it's worth, your title states "Pulsating Icon" and if I'm a person that has a sensitivity to such things, I probably shouldn't be looking into a thread like that in the first place.
