Middle-click drag to autoscroll is selecting text instead
-
I'm getting a problem where middle-button autoscrolling is selecting text in the background.
- Press and hold middle-click
- Drag to auto-scroll
- Release middle button to stop scrolling
The scroll happens, but everything in the background is also selected, which should not happen. Is this a known bug?

yes a known bug, and a known bad user habit, reported dozen times already in the forum. let's hope it gets fixed soon
for now just click and release scroll wheel, move mouse then click again scroll wheel to exit autoscroll (that's the actual correct way for auto scroll) -
@iAN-CooG I'm glad the dev are aware of it as a bug. But I disagree that it's a bad habit. That is the most intuitive and efficient way to auto-scroll. I was aware of the click-scroll-click again method, but that just requires unnecessary clicks.

@jaywalker32 a matter different tastes, let's put it this way. To me it's more stressing for my finger to keep mousewheel pressed while moving mouse becuase it has more resistance than left or right buttons. And more importantly, I mostly use the wheel by scrolling it, which is its main function anyway.

Let them scroll with middle button pressed, it's not a bad habit, it's their choice.

@luetage I like my browser to put more dresses in my wardrobe, supply me with a nice selection of handbags & shoes, eliminate famine drought anthropogenic climate change & wars, but Vivaldi is badly letting me down by currently doing none of these. I blame short-sighted Devs.

@Steffie That's quite the wishlist you got there. You can write feature requests and post them in this thread: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/20037/feature-requests-for-1-12/362
Good luck! ^^

@Steffie Well, as long as Dresses and Handbags are optional
