Mail M3?
-
@Pesala I believe that is in the long view. No sign of it for early releases.
-
@Pesala Mail still does not support POP so I would not wait for RSS in the near future.
-
-
@Gwen-Dragon Fine. I didn't know RSS depends on POP.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Thank you for the info. Anyway, RSS will take a bit long to long to be available.
And there's nothing wrong with your english unlike mine. -
@Gwen-Dragon Interesting tip. I am at work right now. Try it later.
Thanks for the tip. -
@hstoellinger I use it daily in the test versions. Its progress is good. It's not ready yet.
May I test it too?
-
@blisca In order to test it, one has to be admitted as a "Soprano" - an internal tester. And in order to do that, one generally needs some track record and reputation in the community, such that other admitted Sopranos have seen how one interacts with others, and can vouch for the prospect.
After two and a half years, with probably over a million users and over a hundred thousand registered community members, there are about 70 Sopranos.
If you want to try your luck, you may message @gaelle, the community manager. You might try to explain to her how/why you think you would be a valuable addition to the internal testing community. At the moment you have 17 comments and 2 upvotes. I think the average Soprano has at least a hundred comments and perhaps ten or more upvotes. (I'm at 8125 and 654, but there are Sopranos lots "newer" than me) I think most Sopranos were selected over time, largely because they were engaged in the community and helpful to other users.

I guess I am qualified for it!

@Ayespy Same requirements for astronauts in NASA

No, Vivaldi is more tolerant and allows helpers and testers from many countries, we do not divide into bad and good countries like the US organizations and administration do.
It was a joke))) I did not mean politics

Aha, sosoo. A joke.
Well, a Vivaldi tester (called a Soprano) has to sing in Sopran for about 1 hour and has to prove knowledge about playing Violina, Spinet and an Fagott (Bassoon). And they have to eat 100 Mozartkugels.
After this nice torture and investigative asking they are really 100% tester-proof.I can only play on nerves. But perfect.

Mozartkugels
I had googled what is Mozartkugels and now I'm dreaming to became Vivaldi tester )))

Is this for real? RSS won't be part of mail? Seriously??? (Although, to be fair and honest, it should not be a part of mail - it should have been released a year ago, as it's a very, very, VERY small amount of work to code an RSS reader.)
Ooooh boy...
Do I really have to be stuck on Opera 12 until 2020?
Looks like I do.
-
@Pinkmeister RSS has not been mentioned backstage as part of the INITIAL RELEASE of M3. It has, however, been specified as part of future plans. Of course if you would like to submit a fully-coded and bulletproof email client built on top of Chromium and incorporating Vivaldi UI code, plus including RSS functionality (since this is, of course trivial to code) the developers would be deliriously happy to have it - because in nearly 3 years of coding, their email client is still not quite ready for public release.
-
@Ayespy No, I don't care about mail. RSS has nothing to do with mail, but it was connected to the mail client in Opera, so I was expecting it to be connected here as well (despite it making no sense whatsoever). Mail is tough, RSS just... isn't. A developer over at Vivaldi could have it release-ready and tested in a month of work, completely detached from mail, as it should be.
So, stuck with Opera 12 until 2020, like I said.
@Gwen-Dragon I don't trust that extension, unfortunately, as it's not maintained any more... Can't have that on my work PC
-
@kurai Astronauts need likes and posts on the Vivaldi Forum to get to space? That's bad news for space exploration, most won't even find us.
-
@Pinkmeister I'm using this one: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/the-rss-aggregator/ffhafkagcdhnhamiaecajogjcfgienom
The base code is from the Opera extension, but the author has expanded and refined the approach. Both smart rss and rss detector are combined into one extension and it's still being updated. Also has some bugs ironed out, which were pretty annoying on the original one.
