Feature requests for 1.11
-
Links opened in a new tab should inherit the zoom setting of the parent if they are within the same domain. Some pages are just to small to be read comfortably. This way you don't have to adjust the zoom all the time.
-
Double-click tab bar to open a new tab.
-
Cursor focus should always be in the address bar in an empty tab (or speed dial). Currently when you are writing in a form (like in this forum) and switch to an empty tab there is no cursor focus so you first have to click into the address bar to use it.
-
Add Open frame in new tab to context menu. In a lot of cases it's much easier to print that way.
-
Custom cache location
-
Add the option to split screen in the browser. I do often use the browser in the mode of having one page on left side and second page on the right side, what about having it in single window? It could save time, it would be faster.

Bookmark side panel: after search something in bookmark side panel, and search cancelled (x button clicked),
current behaviour is: all folders will folded, regardless of the folder was expanded or not.
expect behaviour: all folder status stays as before. -
Middle-click on Tab Bar for Paste and Go
In Opera it is called: PageBar Open URL On MiddleClick
-
Bookmark bar on the top of the browser:
When the bookmark is NOT IN a folder, right click it will open a context menu about what to do.
However, when the bookmark is IN a folder of the top bar, and right click it will...
current behaviour: the bookmark will be instantly opened.
expect behaviour: open a context menu just like the bookmark not in a folder. The same happens when the bookmark is inside the "right arrow" button, which will show when the bookmark top bar item is too long.

Allow minimising of tabs
Currently closing a tab will automatically activate another tab depending on their position in the tab bar, no matter whether want to see this tab or not. The only way to prevent a not-yet-wanted tab to show up is draging it to the very end of the tab bar which is a) unconvenient, b) errorprone when working with dozens of tabs, and c) preventing use of tab grouping and sorting for any other purpose. -
run-on-click for all plug-ins and media
Especially including flash because that is one thing I certainly do not want to activate in general but that one cannot deactivate 24/7 for probably years to come -
displaying bars side by side
Fully configurable interface or just a bookmark menu obviously seem to much asked for, but perhaps you could give us an option to display the bookmarkbar beside a slightly shortened adress bar? A one folder short bookmark bar not requiring additional window height would be almost as good as the bookmark menu that is apparently impossible to create. -
option to show closing (and minimising) button outside the tab
For heavy multi tabers tab bar real estate becomes a short supply really fast. So anything moved out of this bar is a good thing and having the closing button (and the one for soon to be installed tab minimising!) at a fixed place e.g. beside the adress bar or in the menu bar (for people you like to have a full menu, like me) is also very convenient when closing multiple tabs in quick order. -
Implement a tracking and polling system for requests
Now this has nothing to do with Vivaldi itself, but these feedback threads are enormously inconvenient, I guess for both sides. 1.10 is not even six hours old (remember: working people will often not find time for qualified statements before the weekend) and already this thread is longer than most people are willing to read. And almost all of the entries so far are old requests that you claim to have read and evaluated every single time the were made.
How about providing us with a list of suggestions taken notice off and stating their current priority? Then we could after every new release simply down/upvote what we find still/newly important and would only have to write down completely new suggestions. And you would only have to read those. And it would be much more unlikely that one suggestion would be made 20 times in a single suggestion thread, each time getting 10 upvotes, but ultimately staying unnoted because it was not posted in the first 10 minutes where it could get a 50-upvotes-possible position on page 1. -
Add support for mnemonic shortcuts.
See this post for more details. -
@dLeon
Okay, I did not check systematicaly for content types, so maybe some issues where due to the chromium base (which does not improve the situation for users ;-)). I just noticed that on many sides Opera classic would allow me to decide whether or not to run a certain element (especially adds), while Vivaldi would either start automatically or just display whiteness. I just stuck to opera for all those sites without further analysis, though things get outdated fast anyway with more and more websites rolling out either html5 or plug ins depending on browser. (Until recently for example youtube embedded links, e.g. https://www.youtube.com/v/MSNf1C6kaP8, would not work at all in Vivaldi if flash was not permanently activated, but now they will only rollout html5 when using Vivaldi, while Opera classic displays plug-in toggle for flash)adding another suggestion:
0 day browsing history
Right now I can select any timespan between "1 day" and "forever" for browsing history to be archived, but on a PC by multiple household members, 24 hours is already a long time. How about saving browsing history "not at all"? -
Vertical list tab cycler.
Just like O12, Vivaldi should have a vertical list tab cycle that displays your tabs vertically, and can be cycled through with our custom keyboard shortcuts. It'd also be nice to display the thumbnails on the side. Basically a vertical list tab cycle that mimics O12's in every way.

Better Smooth Scrolling.
It would be great if Vivaldi could break further away from Chromium and develop it's own smooth scrolling that is as good as Safari or Edge.
-
Better Font Rendering.
Chromium's font rendering is really not as good as Firefox's, Safari's, Edge's, or O12's. It would be great if Vivaldi could break away from Chromium in this regard by creating it's own better font rendering that is smooth and professional.
