I can not update or download the 32-bit version. ( It's only 6.83 Mbytes. Like @Pesala said )
I'll wait a little longer, in case the problem continues, I'll install the 64-bit version. -
First of all, I believe it's a step in the right direction but...a little tedious as it's now implemented - I have to store some 200 pictures on my hdd and assign them individually to my speed-dial sites! A good suggestion would be, as others mentioned, a simple text in a frame - another suggestion (my personal preference) would be to ask for a url where a picture could be found (most sites have logos)! Anyway, as I mentioned it's really a great step forward, it just needs a little polish!

Here's a fun new bug for macOS users:
- Launch Vivaldi
- Close window with Command-W (Vivaldi running but all Vivaldi windows are closed)
- Open new window with Command-N
-> New window opens with missing browser chrome and no browser controls!
If you resume your Last Session on startup, Vivaldi will also remember the broken state when you restart it.
Replicates with a clean out-of-the-box new install with defaults.

@andrew-nguyen: Me too!
Win7 x64 -
@dLeon I think that's 200 slow dials. I have 16, with room for 4 more at the current size.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Thank you. I'll wait. I know they will fix it ASAP. Looking forward to trying the SD changes.
-
Open Vivaldi normally.
Don't close.
Then open Vivaldi with icons on the desktop. Here is the effect - on a screenshot - window without V icon, can not write and use mouse gestures.
Checked on a clean profile. (Stable version is ok)
Windows 7 x64
Vivaldi x32Confirm?

@matmur44 confirmed, the new window doesn't have a tab, looks like it's using the frame from the popup windows introduced in this snapshot.

The same here! I do not use the Speed Dial to open websites ... I have websites but I do not usually open them by Speed Dial, so I have a dialer called * Speed Dial *, forever when I open a new tab, open it without Nothing, just with a background image, which I like very much! But it will be cool to change some images of the sites in Speed Dial. Image
-
@quhno: I'm not sure that's the case for everyone. For me at least, 440px by 360px images have 20px hanging off the bottom unseen. 440px by 340px images, on the other hand, work great!
-
@mariap I've tried the auto update approximately 15-20 times, & downloaded the 32 bit offline installer to try to run 5 times, each time I get an Installer failed error, but Windows Smartscreen seems to be hanging around as well so would that be interfearing? The 32 bit installer is downloading as 6.8mb, so not a complete offline install, currently installed 64 bit over the previous installation, but it's a lot slower
Update-as of 5minute ago I'm getting a full 32 bit download-yay!
Whichever way, Vivaldi is still the best by a massive margin, thanks Vivaldi Team -
Nobody has mentioned this but, to make the speed dial customization even better than it is, why not let us use the Capture Page feature Vivaldi already has!
I can see many possibilities all of them very easy to implement. Bear with me:
-
The simplest one and quickest one in term or development time (I think) would be to have multiple options in the new the speed dial item menu including the possibility to PASTE from clipboard. This way we can use Selection Page Capture (the Vivaldi feature!) and PASTE it on the speed dial we want without going outside of the browser. Hell yeah! Easy.
-
Another easy option could be to enhance the Selection Page Capture step after you selected the part you want as an image. Add a button (besides the camera button in the selection step) that allows user to replace speed dial or bookmark thumbnail with what we capture. With some conditions you can make this smart:
a: Detect whether the current open page is a Speed Dial OR Bookmark Page (you already have functions to do that).
b: User opens Page Capture menu.
c: If a is true then available the button set selection as Thumbnail.
That Page Capture feature you guys have can go places... I imagine a future where you have a share button right into it, and a GIF Maker Selector similar to what the Galaxy Note has.

@matmur44 The same thing happened to me with the macOS glitch I just reported.

@juniorsilva30: Refresh this page and try the 32 bit link again. Fixed here. Thank you devs.

Thanks for informing! I updated the page and now it is working perfectly! Thank you Team Vivaldi too!
-
@xyzzy: Same issue as well
-
While we're working on Speed Dial, do you think we could have the border radius of the thumbnails match the set border radius of our themes? Even if you max out the corner rounding, it stays the same.
-
@sapient: "but I couldn't help myself, made it my default a couple of weeks ago" --> ha, you made a very wise decision!
