@D0J0P I'm afraid your reply baffles me nearly as much as your OP, but i thank you for responding.
"Do you have "Use Animations" turned on in the settings?" --> um, erm, i went to the trouble of posting my Settings pic precisely so that you would not [need to] ask me that question.
"No, I'm sure if your CPU or GPU was faster, it would be even better for the animations" --> um, erm, my exact question was "Do i need a slower cpu or gpu?". My point being, as i mentioned initially, that my tabs opening & closing occur super-fast, so maybe they're too fast for me to notice any animation?
Re your Dropbox posts, thanks anyway, but all i can see is tabs opening & closing, & shuffling along. Isn't that kinda the point? I still can't grasp anything special about this. Maybe my conceptualisation of the word animation is quite different to yours?
Again, thanks all the same for your time.

@xyzzy Thank you. Subtle -- too right!! I had to repeat your suggestion a dozen times before i finally noticed it. For the most part, the ticks simply appeared & disappeared when requested, kinda like snapping my fingers or flicking a switch. Similar to my earlier remarks, i now wonder if these V animations mainly show up best for computers with slow cpu &/or low RAM? All i know is that on my Tower, with a decent [albeit far from cutting edge] i7, & 32 GB RAM, these things seem to happen either instantly, or so darn close to it that for practical purposes the animations might as well not be there. Whatever, my enjoyment of V remains very high; i was simply very curious about a "feature" that i've read mentioned in these fora/blogs a lot over time, but never understood. Thanks again.

@Steffie The animation for tabs opening and closing was never there before this snapshot. They used to just pop up without any kind of animations at all. That's what the point was, unless other people have had those same animations before I did.
-
@D0J0P We seem to be completely at cross-purposes here. The point i have been trying to make is that on MY pc in MY Linux V-SS version at least, tabs do simply "just pop up without any kind of animations at all".
-
Very good to new animations when opening a tab!
-
@Steffie Right, then for some reason it's not working for you. It might be a Linux problem, as I've been using it on W10, but I haven't tried it on Linux yet.
-
@D0J0P Right, i was going to ask you if you were currently in your Mint Cinnamon, or Windows, OS, in case that was a factor... but my rumbly tummy forced me to late lunch first. Now i see you answered my proto-question. Am going to boot my Win10 VM, update V-SS, then try it again... maybe then the earth will also move for me

@Steffie Lol no worries. I know they sometimes give Windows the features first before introducing them to Linux and Mac. That might be the case here.

@ian-coog: There is a check for update that runs, but it has a 24 hour timer that it runs on, meaning that if it has checked for an update 12 hours ago, and we release a snapshot, you wont get any notification for this for another 12 hours afaik, this is very likely what you are seeing

@D0J0P Ha, well not only that, but now i've found another instance of heinous V discrimination. As if picking on poor little innocent Linux wasn't bad enough, but now clearly they've also geoblock blacklisted Australia ["hey guys, i know, let's not let Straya have any of our whizbang tab animations"]. Shameful!! Even my Win10 VM V-SS [latest] simply exhibits tabs instantly opening & closing, not faffing around drawing venerable works of Rubensesque art whilst gracefully performing my commands. Or something. Clearly therefore the only logical explanation is a V blacklist of Australia. Or, it might instead be that i am as blind as a bat...

@ian-coog: What this bug refers to is: When you closed Vivaldi with an active download, a process would remain untill finished downloading (I think). And so what it does now is actually end that process correctly when quitting Vivaldi. You could for example have a youtube video playing music, close vivaldi, and youtube would continue to play as long as the download was ongoing. So it is not in reference to the resuming of downloads after starting Vivaldi up again

Is someone looking into Spellcheck not finding the correct words?
You can take a correctly spelled word and change one letter and Vivaldi will have a hard time finding the correct spelled word.
-
Evernote Web Clipper no longer work (but OneNote yes) same regression seen in a earlier snapshot. Uninstall/install change nothing.
-
@An_dz I see, thanks.
-
@Aronand Ok thanks for the clarification. I hope that will be configurable at some point
-
@Aronand ok thanks
-
@ian-coog: Any time It might be at some point, as for right now there is no plan to change it that I'm aware of, but I'll try to bring it up at some time

The wording of Maximum Columns (None) is odd.
Surely it should be Maximum Columns (Unlimited) ?
-
Hangouts still not working for me
-
@g_bartsch: Exactly like g_bartsch said. I was used to the old opera mechanics with speed dial. I was expecting to set columns to any number and zoom as well but it seems the cromium is more limited at least for now....
