Vivaldi.com

Well - that's brave suspected. But it is still allowed to dream?
It's not that crazy.
There is already vivaldi.net for community, so I guess no more Social sites…
So it's either a product/app or some service.
I vote for product.
and it fits the philosophy....Opera, Vivaldi... :silly: -
It's either a new browser, or some kind of online "cloud" storage service. Keeping in mind that Vivaldi's servers are on Iceland and the recent NSA scare the later could have a good chance to become a success.

Whoa! Interesting, would like to find out what Vivaldi has to offer. :woohoo:
-
Hey, what is going on there

I don't think they can make a better browser than Opera except to make a free-code version and get it adopted by all the Linux bods.
I can't see that happening. An alternative to Firefox would be nice. Maybe some Opera techs could work with Konqueror. Though that's already pretty good.

A broad, well-thought-out foundation is being laid. It'll be fun to see what appears above the distant treetops once it really gets underway…

A new bowser is really small alternative but of course is possible. It seems a new service maybe for file share or cloud…
But of course my choise is with a browser

A new browser is a really unlikely alternative but is of course possible. It seems a new service maybe for file share or cloud…
But of course my choice is with a browser.
A number of servers offering space and no adverts have gone belly up over the last few months. This place can't be making any money unless the owner sees it as an investment to sell off to someone with different ethics or is awaiting a larger portion of users so he can attracts advertisers.
Really good browsers are dotted all over the net but nobody uses them because what is at the top of the net is almost perfect.
They have to be maintained and they have to work on the latest stuff across a variety of systems. It really isn't worth the bother.
I hope Jon gets what he wants from this and I hope he doesn't need Google to help or buy him out. Let's hope he can shape it to work on the phones that are going to embody internet forums from now on. But that means Google or Apple.
Shame that.
The world is and always has been, run by cartels. Who has the monopoly at any particular time isn't called finance, it is called politics. -

Hmm. I would take major issue with the terminology (really good, all over, nobody, almost perfect) used in that statement, but that would take this thread miles off course.

Why do I suddenly have the distinct feeling that I've entered the Twilight Zone?

OK. Who uses K-Melleon?
Last time I looked it had no upgrades in years but today, it has one:
2014-01-16: K-Meleon 74 Beta was released. This release include Gecko 24 fixing incompatibilites of the old releases. Currently only available in English.
Read the announcement in Forum for more info about this release.2010-12-12: K-Meleon 1.6.0 Beta2 was released. This is the second 1.6 Beta that included Gecko engine 1.9.1.17pre based in Seamonkey 2.0.11. Currently only available in English.
Read the announcement in Forum for more info about changes in 1.6 Beta2.So if you have Windows and can speak English and can't get on with Opera, Firefox or …hmmm... I can't think of another almost perfect browser, want to try a Linux style browser and realise that Internet Explorer has competition...
So... why aren't you using K-Melleon?
-
So… why aren't you using K-Melleon?
I'm testing it now, thanks for the heads up! First update in 3 years!

Ah a Windows user.
My point was that just developing a minority browser for one operating system is difficult and unless you are doing it for an hobby and or a social reason, is pointless. It is still possible to get versions of Netscape and there were at one time any amount of IE versions. Firms like AOL had their own variety of IE (despite AOL owning Netscape.) Even Microsoft had their own version of IE: MSN.
My operating system comes with a suite designed for it including Konqueror browser but the version I was using was unstable so I used the other one it came with (Firefox) and have stuck with that despite updates to Konqueror redeeming it.
What difference does it make to anyone but me?

First of all, K-Meleon is using Gecko, so it's not really a solo project. Now I haven't read much about the new version, but in general, this kind of project allows developers to test features and potentially discover bugs. Should they find something useful, it can be relayed back to help improve the engine. So in the end it might benefit more platforms than the one its running on. Or it might not. Regardless, I now have another "car" on my computer to cruise around the web with.

I know it's been 3 weeks since someone posted here, but hey: https://twitter.com/VivaldiBrowser/ and https://www.facebook.com/vivaldi.browser (weird that it's a profile and not a Fb page)
Sure, it might not be an official account, but let's hope it is! :cheer: :woohoo:

Well my guess is its a browser, to start. Probably mobile to begin with and hopefully growing to desktop.
In mobile, I use BB 10, Android and iOS.
Linux on desktop. I would even pay a few $ for a Vivaldi browser on each OS to help get the platform off the ground.
