New Tab and Windows open slowly
-
I've been using Vivaldi as my main browser, and it used to work perfectly, but for the past few months I've been having issues with my tabs and windows opening far too slowly.
I timed it using a stopwatch, and it takes 3 seconds for a new tab or window to appear, but 7 more seconds before I can type in the address bar. This is 10 seconds before I can actually make use of a new tab or window. I have timed it repeatedly, and always get the exact same results.
Is this a known issue or is it specific to me? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

That's extreme. New tab is ready instantly, a new window takes about one and a half seconds.
How many tabs do you have open before making a new tab/window, what are your computer specs?

Hmm... I have a similar isssue. In the last several Vivaldi snapshots (maybe all 1.8 line?) Vivaldi lanuches +- as usual, but there is something wrong with the address bar directly after launch. After about 10 seconds it's normal again.
Originally I though that it's maybe something wrong on my side, but now I'm not so sure.
EDIT: I mean, that I am able to type into address bar. But it's impossible to confirm it via Enter.

I usually have 2-3 tabs open in one window.
I can type in the address bar but my text doesn't show up and respond until the 10 seconds have passed. At that point everything I typed appears, and a few moments later the window starts responding properly.
My laptop is about 5 years old now, but the specs should still be fine. i7 2.3 GHz CPU, 8GB RAM.

Also, this only happens when I open a brand new tab or window. If I click "open link in new tab" or whatnot, the tab opens immediately with no issue. "open link in new window" takes a couple seconds, but that's significantly less than 10 seconds.

@raphaelrobo: Can't replicate this. My new windows open in 1.5 sec. Could it be hardware related?

@raphaelrobo Even though I haven't experienced this myself, some people reported that using some images as their Speed Dial page background caused a lag in opening new tabs. Maybe you should try removing the background (assuming that you have one)?

@pafflick That fixed it. Thanks!
