Allow reordering of grouped tabs with drag&drop on the preview
-
Considering that Firefox is dropping the very thing that made extremely powerful addons possible and the one addon keeping me from moving away from Firefox isn't likely to move to their new crippled extension API, I was wondering if you could made the Vivaldi download manager more advanced? (not segmented downloads, but batch download links in a page, custom download targets for download batches, etc.)
I'm going to be up a creek without a paddle once DTA stops working. It really is the only thing keeping Vivaldi from being my standard browser instead of my backup.

segmented downloads
Why not support segmented downloads? File transfers like some download managers do would be nice.

@craftbrewmaster
I have some folders with bookmarks on my express panel (sorry, I can't figure how this thingy is called in English but I attached a screenshot below, probably it's the bookmarks bar as @pafflick mentioned). Right-clicking on any of links in these folders just opens it in another tab. I can edit them only from bookmarks menu on a side panel, which is quite uncomfortable sometimes. Thanks for the screenshot, that definitely helps clarify it. Yeah, in the English version that's called the "Bookmarks Bar" as pafflick pointed me towards and I was able to reproduce your issue -- right-click a bookmark in the Bookmarks Bar just opens it in a new tab. I saw panel, and the only thing called panel in my (English) version of the app is that side panel, so that's the root of the confusion. I find that panel so useful on my widescreen monitor that I keep it open all the time. But that's why Vivaldi is awesome, it allows people with very different workflows to configure it to their personal liking, there are like 4 different standard ways to access your bookmarks if not more.
Thanks for taking the time to reply and clarify the issue, which I can repro as well.

@rabe85 I suppose it would be nice, but it's really all the other features on top of segmented downloads that make downthemall what it is.
-
Option to start the Bookmark Bar items from either the left (as now) or right.
-
Little UX facelifting of search engines editor
- Separate "default" indicator. Why? Because it behaves totally different than other "round buttons"
- Inline editor is really more intuitive
- Indicate "editing" state
Additional ideas:
- Maybe add some barely visible shadows for "edit" / "delete" buttons? So they won't appear "out of nowhere"?
-
Hello Vivaldi Team do you plan to give option for using search in webpanels?
-
I think it would be a nice feature to be able to open links in an already open window.
I have a 2 monitor setup, i use one to browse feeds, reddit, etc, the other one is the "main content" monitor. Currently I go open in new background tab, right click on tab, move to window. Especially bothers me when it's a youtube link that starts playing as soon as the tab gets focus.
Is this a feasible/desirable feature? Let me know

Small search field for saved passwords in the Settings (to search a URL or a username).
I guess not everyone knows about chrome://settings/passwords, where user not only can search, but also can view the passwords. So it would be better to have Vivaldi's own search in the Passwords section of the Settings.

It would be nice if there was a feature that let you easily navigate to archived versions of webpages

I'd like an option for "activate the last tab when clicking the active tab" to do "activate the last tab when clicking on the active tab", and not like it is now.
At the moment it seems that each tab remembers where they were switched to from, soooo... if you click the active tab to change to the last tab, and then the new active tab, it remembers where you came to that tab in the first place, and not the last active tab.Example:
- Open 3 tabs in a row.
- Activate the 1st tab, then the 2nd.
- Then click on the 2nd (now active) tab to go back to 1st.
- Then click on the 1st tab (now active), i would expect to go "back to the last tab" (which was 2nd), instead it goes to the 3rd tab.

.@gaelle
There should be a control to change the speed dial. I like to have about 20 speed dials. But now there is no way to change the size every time I need to scroll. If an option like control+- to change the size so that the number of column will increse to accommodate more dials. Thanks. -
@Duckz There is an extension to do just that and I'm not sure if it would ever be implemented as a browser feature, though you never know...
-
@pafflick yeh it definitely seems like a crazy feature, but you never know, and it would be also good to expose more people to the amazing tool of archived pages

Edit: Didn't see any "edit" button anymore so i'm just gonna quote to add to it:
When having more (10+) tabs open and you like this feature of "go back to the last tab" and click a lot on the active tab, this becomes a very apparent problem. -
Perhaps a feature where someone can add custom thumbnails to the speed dial bookmarks by right clicking on the speed dial thumbnail and having a set custom thumbnail option in the context menu then browse for the new thumbnail icon.

@zaibon This, so much this one yes. I'm used to be able to see address bar and tabs while fullscreen from other browsers, that i wondered why this wonderfull browser does not do it? !!

MDI That's the one thing I miss about the "old" Opera.

More Resources Friendly Hibernate Background Tab Behavior
Problem: Vivaldi will freeze for a long time (sometimes hang) whenever i use this function, because of that i rarely use it.
Suggestions:
-
Don't hibernate all background tab at once when user execute the command to prevent freeze & hang on weaker machine.
-
Instead, hibernate one tab at a time (or a few tabs for more powerful machine).
-
Display info popup to inform user how many % of tab are hibernated, & when task are 100% complete.
-
Gray-out/dimmed hibernate tabs, so user know which tab are hibernated.
