IME and Linux media fixes - Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.7.705.3
-
One last snapshot update before the holidays. It has the Linux HTML5 proprietary media fix from today's minor 1.6 update and an attempted fix for a particularly annoying issue affecting our Japanese users.
-
Happy Holidays everyone!

Wow another snapshot before holidays. Merry Christmas everyone!

Rechecked with this snapshot:
Still have "(VB-23181) Sometimes Links of closed website are opened"Can anyone verify/ is affected as well?
I figured out it is more likely a "open links of the "former" page/tab"
Reproduceable here (>>90%) with:
- Open Vivaldi
- Have Tab bar on the Left
- have a GMX-Account with (lots of) mails in there
- click on the inbox
- open a new tab by using mouse gesture "right click & down" on the tabbar starting slightly below the "+"
Expected result: new empty tab
Actual result: new tab with GMX-InboxSame happens for me from time to time by using "new tab"-gesture on "empty parts" of an webpage - here it opens tabs of the page that was closed before. I can only guess the the mouse open gesture querys/maps the coordinates / location of the mousecursor on the wrong buffered webpage.

I think open the bookmark in new tab is broken, Please fix it.

I agree, as like this feature very much and is one of the first things I test on a new version. I'm using:
Vivaldi 1.7.704.3 (Official Build) dev (32-bit)
Revision 841b9a58130b84a3816d42023b714a2127e1e56fand have set "Open bookmarks in a new tab". New tabs can be set to open as last tab, after active tab or after related tabs but still clicking on a bookmark overwrites the active tab.

OK… I've been wanting to leave this comment for a while... so here it goes:
To be honest, I haven't been using Vivaldi for a while (well, until today!) because of the sluggish reaction to pressing lots of shortcuts and gestures and opening new tabs...
but today I finally made the decision and switched Opera to Vivaldi... and I must say that Vivaldi feels a lot nicer and friendlier than what Opera can ever become... the Quick Commands, the Bookmark functionality, the Panel, the Stacks and Sessions... they all feel wonderful to use and utilize... even though it still feels sluggish but I guess it will get better in the future...
I wanted to thank you for this piece of treasure among lots of simplified garbage browsers out there and hope for the team to improve daily and give us nice stuff in the coming years!
By the way, Opera has been working on improving Performance by using optimized compilation, energy management and pre-fetching pages... I hope you can catch up to Opera in terms of browser performance...
Thank you so much and Merry Christmas!

Ditto!

Thanks for the report Ryanchuang, the issue has been reported as VB-24389

Thanks for the screenshot function (I previously used FF for this purpose). As others have said, copying to clipboard would be good as an option. Any chance the screenshot function could be made available to the console? E.g. in Firefox, one can type in "screenshot –clipboard --fullpage"

It's no secret gift, it was explicitly added in the last 1.7.704.3 snapshot

Forgive me if I'm confusing two different things here, but you can save a whole page, including its images, simply by hitting Ctrl-S. This creates, in your download directory, an .mhtml file which is the same as Opera's .mht. I use this all the time when saving pages containing errors of language or fact for evidential purposes. For the sake of completeness I should add that it does not capture comments like this that have not been Sent! (This is something I have only just discovered…

I have noticed a small bug (I think) on tab thumbs. I have tabs on the left with "Show Tab Thumbnails" enabled.
Normally when I load another page in the same tab, the current thumb is cleared and the new thumb is shown when the page has loaded (correct behavior).
But sometimes (random?) - instead of clearing the old thumb, a (random?) thumb from an URL which I have visited earlier is shown during page loading. It has nothing to do with the URL currently being loaded.
When the new page has finished loading, a new (correct) thumb is displayed.
I have seen this in a few snapshots already.Win7x64 Vx32
Merry Christmas and all the best for 2017!

The IME issue is gone, indeed! Thank you.
Recently I read one of your CEO's interviews and learned that Japan has the largest number of Vivaldi users, which is very interesting. Then recently I read a report about a very careful study of computer literacy in OECD countries. The study classified computer literacy into levels 0 to 3 (from low to high) and found that Japan has the highest (or nearly highest) percentage of level-3 people and also level-0 people. Since most Vivaldi users are level-3, I guess, that explains the popularity of Vivaldi in Japan. It probably means that Japan has the largest number of people who are never interested in Vivaldi
. . . Okay, this "analysis" of mine is a joke of course, but I can definitely see that the geek culture is strong here in Japan.

Does anyone experience this issue ?
Whenever I add a page to bookmark bar using the address bar, it doesn't appear there… I have to restart the browser to see it... This doesn't happen when I add the page to Speed Dial bookmarks or anywhere else... only Bookmark bar...Using Vivaldi Stable stream...

VB-23467 "[Regression] Page keys with modifiers do not work on Google Spreadsheets" still present.
