Engine update - Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.5.638.3
-
Unfortunately i also experience blurriness and scale problems: Dell Latitude E5540 Notebook, Win 10 pro 64bit (10586.545); I7 4600U; Nvidia GT 720M; 1920x1080;
Tried running with both (integrated and Nvidia) GPUs and deactivating scaling at high DPI, nothing fixed the problem. thx for looking into this! -
@ruario:
What OS and OS version?
Windows 10 Pro (Anniversary Edition) x64
@ruario:
Are you using HiPDI screen?
Yes. (Dell U2713H)
@ruario:
What resolution and/or setup?
2560x1440
@ruario:
What graphics card? … etc.
Radeon HD 5700
With the new Snapshot now everything is quite a bit larger, the UI as well as the displayed websites. The same happened a few days ago in Chrome, when it's latest update was installed.
It seems like the new Chromium now respects (or no longer respects?) the HiDPI Scaling from the OS. (On my machine it currently says it´s at 225%, but that can´t be true. Seems like a bug there. I also cannot change it. From what i remember, it was at about 125%.
When i go to Vivaldi´s Settings and try to scale Vivaldi´s UI and Default Page Zoom back down, to get the same size as before, it gets a little blurry. Seems like the scaling of Vivaldi and from OS are working against each other there.
I also tried to enable the checkbox to disable scaling at high DPI, which Windows offers in the properties window you get from the Applications icon. It did get a little smaller, but the problem didn't disappear completely.

thx, but sadly it does not make it any better.

Windows 7 Pro x64, Viv x64 SS, Intel HD Graphics 4600, 1920x1080 HP Z22i

With "User Interface Zoom" at 100% the UI seems mostly sharp. When i reduce it, it gets blurry.
Content of Webpages is already a little blurry at 100% (individual page zoom at bottom right and Default Webpage Zoom are both at 100%). Even the Vivaldi-Settings as tab are blurry.
See Screenshot.
I blacked a few tabs there, but you can see, that the text in some tabs is sharp and in the topmost blurry.And when i open the Screenshot in Vivaldi, it gets displayed larger than it actually is. Seems to match the 125% of Windows Scaling exactly.
Edit: this is all with scaling at high DPI disabled in the applications icon compatibilty properties.
-
Okay, changing the Checkbox to disable scaling in the applications icon does not change anything. Just unchecked it again, restarted Vivaldi and made another screenshot, but it actually looks the same.

/deleted - wrong post/
-
Now i changed the scaling for everything in Windows itself back to 100% and everything is sharp and vivaldi´s UI and Webpages are at the same size as before the latest snapshot.
-
+1, everything stayed normal. Win 7 64bit. Lenovo T430. Other zoom levels: also no blurring.
-
Windows 10 x64 (build 14946), 1920x1080px, 125% system DPI scalling, Intel HD Graphics 4000/GeForce GT 650M.

Windows 10/64 bit. Scale is HUGE at 100% now. The 90% scale in this version is equivalent to 110% in previous versions. Also, this version is a memory hog (10 gig ram), and therefore very S….L....O......W in loading pages. The cursor is not always visible. Often have to move to search window to get cursor to appear again. Sorry I updated to this version.
-
try –force-device-scale-factor=1
-
Windows 7 Enterprise x64, LG IPS236, 1920x1080, Windows UI is scaled to 125%, GTX460 SE.

can't confirm,
Vx64, Win7x64 home, 1680x1050 -
"search with"
wohoooo thx! -
just wanted to add that I have no issues here, win 10 x64 fully updated, normal screen on full hd resolution, hd 6850 gpu. Clear Type is on.

Comment box bugged for me…sorry!
-
Now all chat/read/write/comment box randomly bugged for me. Not to see the flashing cursor or indicator. / facebook chat, etc…. / PLS FIX THIS! It is not possible to write it only with an other browser.
It's possible to add a command line to it than new Chrome 56 canaries in a version? If I close the browser then the launch immediate, very quick. It is not necessary to wait. The browser runs in the background and beside the clock an icon signals it.
Example:
"C:\Users"USERNAME"AppData\Local\Google\Chrome SxS\Application\chrome.exe" --no-startup-window /prefetch:5Thank You!

This is how fonts looks to me. Download pictures to PC to see them sharp in 100% size. On left is Opera 38, latest version where DirectWrite can be disabled, on the right is default Vivaldi 1.5.638.3. Windows 7x64, Radeon x1950Pro, default Windows DPI, FHD 1920x1080 Windows Cleartype disabled:

And this is same Opera comparing with same Vivaldi runnin in virtual Win10, Cleartype on Windows 10 is enabled:

I just had to register to tell you how happy I am with the Search With feature! That was the O12 feature I was missing the most after switching to Vivaldi. Thank you for adding this
I don't know if it was mentioned before: a couple of snapshots ago dragging an URL to a bookmark folder in the sidebar went slightly broken. The bookmark does get added this way, but in the title field it saves the URL instead of the HTML title. This does not occur when I bookmark using the bookmark button in the URL bar.
I run the 64 bit version on Windows 10.
