Snapshot 1.5.626.8 - URL field enhancements, Vivaldi banners and a small update
-
Today's snapshot clears up a bunch of issues, with a particular focus on the URL field. There is also a "small update", which will become apparent in the next release.
-
"small update" is about mail or sync?
-
oh, I see some info about binary patching instead of full installer. not so important but also a nice feature.
-
Thanks I am very curious, what a surprise you have prepared for us
-
It's something small, a tiny thing…
-
I know, but need to be grateful for everything, for every little thing
-
Hopefully, we'll see an update to Chromium 54 soon as well…
Chromium 54 is scheduled to hit the stable channel within the next two weeks. I think it's great that we've been spared the instability of early Chromium-beta code. However, delaying the Chromium engine upgrade too long puts the timely release of Vivaldi-stable at risk.

Will there ever be a fix for this issue:
-Sometimes, when right clicking in a text field to have the context menu open, the whole current tab(not browser, just that single tab) just close itself instead, as if performing the close tab gesture.Because it's very annoying, especially because it's a seemingly completely random event, as in, happens once in a while but not all the time. Like when I want to correct a mistake in a text field(mainly happens on forums, youtube comments or similar text box) and then the tab just close itself as if I had performed the close tab mouse gesture when all I did was a quick right click on a red underlined word without even moving the mouse in order to correct it quickly using the Spellcheck.
Could we also have a way to hide the speed dial folder from the Bookmarks side panel? And possibly line separators in the bookmarks side panel as well? Right now I'm using empty folders was separators but it's not that great looking.
-
Makes sense. 'Small update' means smaller updates for future releases instead of having to download the whole installer.
Maybe not a killer feature, but it would be something that makes Vivaldi better.
-
Not sure if it was there before, but there is a keyboard shortcut to open mail panel. Might this be the new "small update"?
I was hoping for the developer tools docked or sync, but….oh welll...for many this one most wanted features.
-
Too bad that the URL field is still horrible for quickly typing in things - it still autocompletes to weird addresses, not the latest/smallest alternative. Also still no [tab/arrow] completion for path/in/urls. (eg. going to reddit.com/r/programming in vivaldi is typing that whole thing - while in firefox it's re[rArrow]/r/pro[rArrow][enter].
-
Indeed. I'm not fond of autocomplete in Vivaldi, it almost seems as if it's always offering me the most obscure URL it can dig up on given server
-
I found the same lol
First thing I did was search for "mail" in settings but I'm not sure either whether it was there before or not.
-
Unfortunately it's not it. I installed the previous snapshot on another machine and that shortcut exists there as well.
-
I believe the first comment from 13.beta2 is right. It is a change on how Vivaldi updates it self. Makes sense on the choosing of words and why we need this update to see the feature when we install the next one
-
sync now, sync tomorrow, sync forever :lol::lol:
-
random bugs that appears only for one user are not ignored. they just can't be fixed if they can't be repeated.
-
totally agree. most of annoying little bugs that's left (and there is a lot of them :()
-
Using previously set or setting ctrl+` as shortcut still doesn't work
Broken with last snapshot. -
Win 7 64 bit, Viv 32
Bookmark saving on panel seems to be corrected now is saving etc. Thumbnails on downloads seem to come and go…maybe it's just me.
Thanks.
