Snapshot 1.5.618.8 - Drag tabs between windows and performance improvements
-
How can I set the start page bookmark tiles NOT to update? Today all snapshot tiles are blank - I have to manually update them and it's frustrating!
PS Is there a way to update them all and not one by one? -
Open a new speed dial tab and close the one with the blank thumbnails.
-
There is till something seriously borked with the numpad. If I want to insert a smart quote with Alt 0147, the keystrokes are sent as Ins, End, Left, Home, so I lose whatever text I am editing in the reply field.
-
You mean I have to do that for almost 150 speed-dial entries? By the way, Vivaldi crashes every time I try to reload (update) the thumbnails if it's more than - say - three at a time! Speed-dial is a real pain in the ass!
-
No, just open one new speed dial (new tab), and close the one with the blanks.
-
Thank you!
-
I don't understand how to do that! For example, I have a folder with two nested sub-folders containing 30 urls according to the designated category: every single url tile has turned blank, how do I apply your instructions? And another thing: where exactly in the profile folder (default) all tiles & snapshots are stored? If I knew, I could make regular backups & restore them when blanked!

How could anybody dislike this post?

[BUG] While - (minus) key zooms out by 10%, + (plus) key still doesn't on W10 64bit version.

[WISHes]: I wish I could:
- cycle select image loading options (show images, show only cached, don't show), like I used to do in Opera with a keyboard shortcut (used to be SHIFT+G)
- cycle select Author Mode and Personal Mode views, like I used to do in Opera with a keyboard shortcut (used to be SHIFT+I)
- cycle select which content to block, with a single keyboard shortcut (e.g: don't load images -> don't load movies -> disable plugins -> disable scripts). If feasable, while the page is loading.

Totally relevant association. The designers, who make the themes, don't work on functionality. Today, dragging tabs to new or different windows was released. This was a huge feature that took the development team (who work on functionality) multiple months to develop, re-writing the tab code, etc. Designers are working hard on design. Developers are working hard on functionality. If you wish them to stop doing appearance and do functionality instead, they have to fire designers and hire more developers. Of course if pay scales are anything like I imagine, to hire one new developer, they'd have to fire two designers. I could be wrong, but I think they only have two designers.

I'm still having random crashes out of nothing since the last snapshot, even with a clean install… The actions are the most common ones, nothing special. The last one was when I was downloading a file...
Win10 x64, Viv x64.

If you want lots of speed dials, use the bookmarks panel to assign more folders as speed dials. Then each folder appears on the navigation bar on the main speed dial, and can be opened/reopened from there with one click, rather than as folder icons on the speed dial itself.
Or, ask in the forums for help on Customising Speed Dial Thumbs.

There must be a problem with the Speed-Dial in this version. After the tile 'blanking' I updated every single one from start, only to discover that most of them became blank after a while! The speed-dial is Vivaldi's black hole and, until the devs improve it, I must learn to live with that!
-
Yes, it's a feature. The mime-type of the dragged object is "text/uri-list", so every software capable of handling that kind of object will do it.
-
Re-registering them manually in the settings might solve the issue. Please tell us if that solved it for you

What is your keyboard layout ? The shortcuts are working as if you are using a qwerty keyboard, so you may have to try to press the key to the left of the backspace key.
-
Full crash (the whole browser closes), or dead bird (the rendering engine closes) ? In the second case, it might be an issue of video drivers. Try deactivating the HWA/GPU acceleration.

I don't experience the problem at all, on any of my three installations. I wonder what are the differences between your system and mine.
