Snapshot 1.1.443.3 - New tab options

Bookmark editing problem confirmed with the 32-bit Vivaldi on 64-bit Windows 8.1. Mind you, if you edit the URL and then select the fields below (Description, etc), then the edit sticks.
-
Sadly it's true. The main problem for me is the UI performances but IMHO there's not very much they can do to improve since Vivaldi is based on Chromium + React … well, you could even consider Vivaldi not a browser but a benchmark XD
-
So is it me, or is searching from the URL field broken? If I enter "test" in the field, I get this "This site can’t be reached
test’s server DNS address could not be found.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN" -
Bookmarklets, not bookmarks. Bookmarklets are bookmarks with "javascript:" followed by JavaScript code in the URL, which gets executed on the current page when clicked.

First of all, I'm happy to be "beyond final". Vivaldi guys are awesome and I'm happy to set Vivaldi as my main browser now on.
I'd also like to suggest (beg for) something that will vastly improve the experience of all Vivaldi users, no matter their preferences: It is a better user interface consistency. There are some dialogs that show no coherence with Vivaldi's freakin' awesome UI, for instance that one that asks if you want to save a new password, or that another for clearing browsing data, and internal pages also need a make up: every time those dialogs are shown the first thinking is "chromium".
UI consistency is important because it ultimately makes users feel more confident and confortable with a given piece of software.

Vivaldi (32bit) crashes in combination with Whispersystems' "Signal" Chrome app.
https://whispersystems.org/blog/signal-desktop-public/
Sending&receiving messages works fine, but as soon as I click an image in a chat thread to view it in large zap Vivaldi crashes. Maybe a "Signal" beta side effect.
I hope the feedback helps.
To Vivaldi in general? two thumbs up!! -
That's interesting. So what features are Vivaldi planning to release into their version 1.1 release? I don't see any information of any planned features on there. Do you think they will at least do a new release every few months, if they're doing a 1.1 release instead of 2.0?
-
Hurray, VB13521 (and incidentally VB12717 & 14294) are now squashed!!! Static large gif websites now display immediately without having to F5 each one. Thank you x 1000!
-
Oh, I see … thank you, Fayne_Aldan. Where does one get such things? Now, you made me curious.
-
Well, keep clicking your current tab, and eventually it will end up restarting the sequence. It's just really weird behavior that is basically unpredictable if you break the sequence by bringing a new tab into the mix. The right way to do it would be to root the ordering rather than have it be some very weird cyclical thing. Think about it in terms of a directed graph, and you will see the difficulty.

In my profile, folder, I deleted "ChromeDWriteFontCache", everything in "Application Cache", "Cache", "GPUCache", and "MediaCache", and this fixed my font issue and also increased my browser's speed on opening new tabs by 300-400%.
-
Amazing fixes!
As always, I'll keep reporting my personal major annoyances:
- Random Crash when using Close Tab mouse gesture (VB-14914).
- Still no option to Close Tab and go to Right in options. Pretty please?
- No way to 100% disable Tab Preview feature (I'm using a .js modification for that).
Site annoyances:
- I can't use auto updater anymore, it takes hours to update. Link works fine.
-
Download the file from here: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ and select your OS and download the version for opera and chromium.
-
The browser still has a ways to go, and I think that based on user feedback, people want sync before mail.
-
Vivaldi right now will always internally load the chromium PDF viewer, even for a downloaded PDF. This is a bug that has existed for a while.
-
Try deleting your user profile (or see my post above for exactly which parts of the profile to delete).
-
I was able to speed up performance 300-400% by clearing a whole bunch of caches that had gotten built up.
-
It is a bug, but a workaround for now is to click the edit button again after finishing the edit.
-
Had issues with the updater again. I think it was mentioned that it's a slow download speed issue.
Download failed part way through at about 22MB. I did the update again and it downloaded the rest. But it wouldn't complete the update. Kept saying it failed and wouldn't attempt to re-download anything.
First time that happened with this issue. I had to update downloading from the links above.
-
Indeed, the updater started off the slowest I've ever encountered, and it stalled/err'd at just 11.5 MB (usually it fails here between 23 and 33 MB). But after a restart of the updater, it took off like a scared rabbit and finished successfully. The downloading issues have become sort of a standard procedure any more.
