Vivaldi 1.0: Not for everybody, just you

Congrats on 1.0
Looking forward to more improvements in later snapshots. Keep it up

Hi,
Just wanted to leave a comment to say a BIG THANK YOU ! I've been an Opera user since way before 12, the shift to 15 obviously made my stomach hurt, like most of us. But I still had hopes, Opera was like "Chrome without Big Brother". Which was basically my state of mind until a few hours, despite the obvious lack of features. Then I heard about Vivaldi, and just decided to give it a try. After 45 mins, I uninstalled Opera without a hint of hesitation. I feel childish since then, like I just found an everyday toy I've been wanting for so many years.
Once again, thanks !

Thx, but: No! I don't want an external prog. Practice, habit.
I think, the Vivalditeam will make it! „Go-Go-Gadget-M3“ -
i'm really impressed! telling truth right now i.m using few browsers, but Vivaldi really acquired many features i love since i last saw a snapshot= dark theme, per tab sound mute, overal style, marks for unreaded tabs, tab groups and tiles, looots of customizations and menus design!
please don't take it as an arrogant "i wish" list, but these will make browser top:- "lazy load" tabs = when browser starts only tabs that were viewed are loaded to ram
- smart memory use = unload from ram all tabs that were not viewed for recent X minutes.(custom timer)
- note connection = if note was made on a specific site/page, when user gets there later, an icon appears in address bar to depict that there is a note(just like bookmark one)
..and of course faster speed is always welcome.)
thank you dev team for all the work! -
The bookmark opening limits are preventing me from using Vivaldi as my new primary browser. +1 for a warning dialog. The tipp with selecting them and then right clicking a menu option is not comfortable.
Furthermore it would be nice to have the possibility to middle click on a bookmark folder and open only the bookmarks in the root folder, but not the bookmarks in subfolder(s). This applys to both the bookmark bar and the bookmark panel.

No, I mean the current responsive tools, the current implementation of device modes, and other things. I am using Mac Chrome ver. 49.0.2623.110 (64-bit).

Please, add bookmark tags.

I'm really disappointed, that as a user of the RC1 I needed to download the latest version manually. That was true for both the final once it was released, but also of the most recent 1.0.435.42. Are there two different release channels or how come the update check always said that my browser was already up-to-date?
-
Yes. There are two different release channels. There may soon be three.
-
Congrats guys!
I'm relatively new on this forum so i don't know if i may post this here but I just have a question related to these latest updates. Yesterday i did the update to 1.0 version and when i tried to click on an extension i previously had installed and worked perfectly fine (Mobile browser emulator) it just closes the browser. Today i installed the latest version of Vivaldi browser (1.0.435.42 () (32 bits)) and i thought it was going to fix that problem but it's still happening. Despite this I have had no problems with other extensions atm.
I'm just posting this because before these latest updates i didn't have any problem related to extension management on Vivaldi (it's an amazing browser!). …Or maybe i need to post this on the developers extension page at chrome store  lol

Please, add remove all interface animations.

It would be interesting to know if .29 upgraded to .42 or whether .40 was required. It's not super-simple to know, at least to me, since .29 has one foot in each camp.
-
Thank you, Vivaldi!
I don't know when it was done but Alt key shortcuts work for the Vivaldi menu – goodbye to the mouse-keyboard-mouse-keyboard-mouse-keyboard dance!
The answer to the Ultimate Question: Vivaldi version .42
Just as good for a chortle as XP version .2600 (alt.2600)And (drumroll) only 356k memory for four open Tabs and a couple of Extensions!
Windows 7 x64 | Vivaldi x64

Thanks for this information Ayespy. We clearly need some way to distinguish them in the future and maybe even an ability to switch from one channel to another.
-
Just an update on this - it seems like Google is the search engine affected. As far as I can tell, search suggestions aren't working with Google at all. They do work with Bing and DuckDuckGo. I've filed a bug for it and we'll see what happens!

I misstated what Vivaldi shows, or maybe the new version is slightly modified: 5 thumbnails, not 4, per row at full screen on my 11.6" laptop, but only 2 rows. With the window at its normal size it's 3 thumbnails per row, 2 rows per showing at any one time.

I am a designer, it is important to collect inspiration in the browser, I think in the "notes" can add the image management
