Snapshot 1.0.425.3 - A new introduction to our browser
-
Sorry it was a guess just tried to help him understand ..guess I need to butt out I almost didn't post. I don't have inside information I guess it's the old 1/2 full or 1/2 empty gas tank problem not know from where we look.I'm getting to think I'm getting really dyslexic or always have been do same in typing all the time..
-
Win7 64 Viv 32
I'm almost worried to say anything about the problem I continue to have…PASSWORDS.
I've NEVER deleted them but says none there, then when I try to add them I get no dropdown menu and it doesn't add them to password file. Probably just me, my computer, and Ayespys' wife computer.
Addentum:
I closed out Vivaldi and re-installed 425.3 again (from full download) and loaded worked fine. All passwords showed etc. Something got written over and/or corrupted in program file apparently. I thought they were read only...because reinstall fixed it

Really like! You can single tap on speaker on the tab and it mutes it!!!! Great feature you don't have to OPEN tab and look at it. Please keep it.
THANKS guys AND gals, and all other forms of life so we don't forget any.

I keep having a problem when launching the browser: the browser window doesn't show up (but in the task bar, it looks like it's rendered but smaller than usual). Only thing which fixes it is to open up a new window, but I always lose my last session.
Any idea how to fix this? -
Every build I try to download updater and see error "Update download incomplete.". Every time I have do go on vivaldi.net and dwonload installer manually.
-
Whatever. Comment to your heart's content. And if I think you (or anyone) misunderstood something, I may or may not offer a correction. I would say (in all humility), don't let others' comments be a reason not to comment.

Those must be really crappy antivirus engines if they work like that. My security software never said Vivaldi was a virus, not even in the first developer release over a year ago.
-
I think he means that the tab would minimize inside the browser, which is how Opera worked, you could re size, organize or minimize tabs inside the browser, but since Vivaldi does not work like that I fail to see how that would be useful as it would just minimize the whole browser (and all tabs) just like the current minimize button works.
Its that or I'm also confused on the real use of such feature.
-
Its actually a Chrome feature. Firefox already copied it as well but you cannot click to mute a tab. It just shows the icon to identify which tab is sending music out.
I also really like this feature and its very useful on sites that auto play videos (which I think they should not, nothing should auto play on a website)

Unusual problem. I wonder if there was a piece of actual malware out there that misleadingly used the term "Vivaldi Technologies" in it. Or perhaps some malware used some other text string that (under some hash function the AV program in question may be using) hashes to the same value.
-
You're in good company, because this has been an issue for me from the very beginning.
It's not an issue of an anti virus software aborting the download because of a false positive, since I tried it with Avast disabled and was met with no success. It's also happening on different hardware and even over different network connections (DSL and mobile), neither of which is the source of the problem.
-
Could you post a portable version of snapshots also?
So I can both test the snapshots and use the stable for daily use -
There's no truly portable version of anything. But you may install any version as "standalone" in the install options. There's also no stable. Just Beta and snapshots.

Hi,
chrome.webRequest API dont work to ResourceType "object", "other"… for some filles eg flvchrome.webRequest.onResponseStarted.addListener( function(l){console.log(l);}, {urls: ["<all_urls>"], types: [ "object", "other"]}, ["responseHeaders"]);</all_urls>

suggestion:
Vivaldi could get the opensearch tag and show a icon in the adress bar near the add bookmarks icon, to add a search mechanism with also including search suggestion from opensearch tag…
-
I tried an old Version of Opera and I had forgotten what it looked like, first ones…Wow that seems many moons ago, thought as much as I had used it I'd NEVER forget HA!!. Welcome to the club...Ayespy I don't see how you can remember it all. Guess some are just lucky.

Had trouble with passwords again all cleared out when left idle for 15 min or so …. just exited and reloaded and it came back again...don't think I ever had this problem in previous versions and know I didn't with FF.
-
Reported this as (VB-14529)
-
As a workaround you could at least save your session by pressing "F2" then type "session" -> "save open tabs as session" you can load them in the same way.

That maybe would be a realistic scenario, if these anti-virus companies are working that careless. On the other hand one could argue, that somebody obviously has been trying to abuse anti-viurs software for their goals. For example a dirty playing competitor could have had a laugh about this. The involved 'security' companies should be seriously concerned.
