Well activating extensions in incognito mode sort of destroys the whole purpose of using incognito mode in the first place.
If a user insists on using an extension then you may as well just use a non-incognito window in the first place.

'Controlled by extension' is enabled. But as I said, this does not apply to the start page. The extension only becomes active when I click on the "Home" icon and open a new tab.

Just like the Bookmarks, Notes etc, these are files located in your profile directory. Look in Help > About to find its location.

Once you have a working profile, these files are good candidates for a proper regular backup. Sync is not really a backup - if you mess up, like deleting all your bookmarks, it will happily sync the deletion to all your devices ... 😉

For posterity's sake, it does have to stay signed in for it to scrobble.

The extension needs to be allowed access to the API (using a key) but from what I could tell, I could sign out of Last and it still was able to scrobble. The extension has its own auth key independent of cookies/sign-in on Last.

When you go to the extension's Options → Accounts, you'll see: “You are signed in as <username>”. If that instead shows “You are not signed in.” it won't scrobble. It didn't mean the Last FM website directly.

@lycorvinus No, there's no need to report it again. Your issue was confirmed and our developers will try to fix it. We don't give any ETA's, as it's hard to predict how long it might take - some issues take days whereas some last for months before we can figure out how to tackle them. 🤷♂ You'll receive an e-mail update once it's fixed.

@pafflick Another tip is just to open Devtools and reload the page. The page will be the first request.
