It might be hard to find but there's always a way to skip (options like "not for now" etc.) - you really don't have to give it as it's illegal for them to block you if you don't.
Unfortunately that's not right. The way they work around it is by requiring you to have an Android device or emulator. They don't give you a way to skip.
My wife likes to keep a record of all her mail in Thunderbird, so on my monthly backup run I often have to log in to her GMail accounts and say "yes let Thunderbird read this [expletive] account again!". I can always skip any demand to "improve security". I really have never seen anything about Android or emulator, so I have no idea what you mean.
Same thing with her Yahoo! account, which has become extremely insistent on wanting more authentication details... just close the pop-up or find the little option somewhere to skip it. I said the word "illegal" earlier, and while I'm not 100% sure, I'm pretty certain that there's no way they can take your existing account access away from you without breaking some law - at least here in Europe.
