Black screen when opening a web page

@shaedrashiro Why is it strange that every phone is not just like yours? That every phone does not have your hardware, Android version, and apps on it? (especially security and privacy, media and UI apps) There is nothing strange in your local experience being different from literally everyone else's.
Both my wife and I have S22 phones on Android 14 (I said 13 earlier, but it's 14). Only difference is hers is an Ultra and mine is not even a +. She has had problems on her phone that I have never seen. I have had a couple she has not experienced. Phones are not the same - mostly not even similar.
Luckily, yours is not entirely different from everyone. Some people have been able to reproduce the symptom through one means or another, and that may enable a fix at some point. The KEY to getting a fix is that the developers have to be able to reliably reproduce the issue. Up to now, that has not been the case with yours.

@mib2berlin Thank you.

@Ayespy I don't know how to speak English, I'm using a translator to translate the text. When I say "strange" I mean something that is out of the ordinary or you don't know the problem, it's a way of "saying" or speaking "And by the way my native language is Spanish and I'm from Mexico, maybe that's why maybe I didn't know how to explain myself well.
And as a curiosity, people from the north, center and south of my country have their own way of speaking Spanish, now imagine all the countries that speak Spanish. No one, absolutely no one, speaks Spanish correctly xD

Hi, a developer could reproduce it with the new description using the tab switcher.
It was mentioned to disable Focus Address Bar in New Tab, then it is easier to reproduce.
Default is Enabled, can you test if it influence the issue for you?
Maybe a kind of workaround until this is fixed.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin ¿Y cómo haces eso?
Edit:
I have that option disabled, and when I enable the option, the screen is still blank. There is no change if it is enabled or disabled.
-
@shaedrashiro I think @mib2berlin was indicating that it should perhaps happen to you less often if you enable Focus Address Bar in New Tab. That's not a fix but may make the browser more usable while someone works on a fix.
-
@Ayespy ah ok, I hadn't understood that (vivaldi translator) hahahaha
I have that option disabled because it is very annoying that the keyboard appears on the screen, when the only thing I want to do is read and not write.
I appreciate your help to @mib2berlin

@shaedrashiro
The bug is now assigned to a developer, this doesn't mean we get a fix tomorrow but the developers can actively work on it now.Cheers, mib
-

Finally!
The issue is still there in the latest Vivaldi Snapshot.
When I go to Google.com from a tile on the new tab page, I get a blank screen. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23.

@tqla
Hi and yes, the bug VAB-8929 is not fixed actually. -
Vivaldi Snapshot 3406.3 It still shows a blank screen but it's no longer as annoying as in previous versions.
If you open a new tab and wait about 2 or 3 seconds and open a web page, the web page will now be displayed correctly. But if you do this procedure quickly, the blank screen appears again.
Edit:
I think I find the problem of the blank screen.
- Click on the tab icon (red circle).
- Click on the + button (red circle)
Everything must be done quickly then it will fail, but if you do it slowly it will work correctly.

@shaedrashiro
That's how we were finally able to consistently reproduce the bug. Unfortunately, things are moving slowly in July with most of the team taking some time off, but I have my hopes up that it'll be fixed by the time the next bigger release rolls around. -
@jane-n Hi, I've been having that bug too, frequently, in Vivaldi for Android. It happens when I switch to another app and then go back to Vivaldi, or when opening a link in another app. The page will simply go black, no matter if it was loaded and working fine a second before. Doesn't happen every time though, but frequently enough to be very annoying/off putting, like half the time. Maybe it's a memory thing, vivaldi getting unloaded from memory by android in favor of the other apps. Some rarer times, just swapping tabs or closing the app won't work, I have to force stop it.
-
@duplexity That sounds like a different use case, with a similar/same result.
Please report it on https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/ and share the bug number with me, so I could link it with the main bug. -
@jane-n I hope so. at the moment I'm using Samsung's web browser.
