Tracker and Ad Blocking stopped working [Android]
-
in my case, when my old phone is set to battery saving mode (2 of 4 cpu cores active), Vivaldi starts with the empty shield and its blocking management is unavailable, but still seems to block ads.
and following below revives the management temporarily. ("Exit" doesn't work for me.)
tap the shield icon.
tap "Manage Default Settings".
tap the help button (circled question mark).
wait a second and go back from the help page.
select your proper "DEFAULT BLOCKING LEVEL" and go back again. -
Same problem with Android 11, MIUI 12.1.1, Vivaldi 6.6.3291.70.
Every Time Vivaldi I open, the AdBlock badge is disabled. I have to setup again the default protection, kill Vivaldi, and restart Vivaldi to have the AdBlock block working normaly.
The problem appears ~1 month ago. -

Hi, this was fixed in one of the latest updates:[Regression] Killing/reopening the app sets the blocker setting back to the previous state (VAB-8847)
To my knowledge this is a timing issues, how do you kill Vivaldi?
I never use the Exit button in Vivaldi, no power saving activated for example.
I tried to reproduce it on my stone age Umidigi One with Android 8.1 but cant using Exit this time.
It take some time until the shield icon show the status, it seems the page has to be full loaded. -
@mib2berlin
I don't have the issue with the latest Vivaldi Snapshot (which uses the same default setting for battery saving).
I dont really quit Vivaldi. I just Switch to another app, and after a moment (30min ?) when I go black to Vivaldi, the AdBlock badges are disabled for all opened tabs. I have to force kill Vivaldi (long press on the return button) to have back the badges. I don't know if it is only a graphic problem. -
@totoetlititi
There was two issues:
Ad blocker reset itself
Shield icon shows wrong status but work.
I guess one of the fixes in the snapshot fix this issue for you too.
I hope these fixes were backported to stable in one of the next updates.Cheers, mib

every time i open vivaldi with x as a tab in it, it loads the page with ads. disabling and enabling ad block removes ads most the times and some times the ads are still appearing. this is the thing that has been keeping me away from using vivaldi on android. every other month i return to vivaldi to try and see if this issue had got fixed but no resolution in sight. have experienced this in other sites too like instagram.

Ad blocking seems to be no longer working again.

Ad blocking seems to be no longer working again.
Is this with Stable or Snapshot and is it on all web sites, or just certain ones? If certain ones, please provide the URL.
On Android 10, I have tested with a few sites and am either seeing no ads, or the site is (correctly) detecting an ad blocker.

On snap 6.10.3486.3, the ad-block engine seems to have been fixed. Nice.
