Vivaldi Takes a Bite Out of the Apple: Introducing Vivaldi on iOS
-
Congrats to the team on finally making my IPad at least a bit usable
-
This is great!
-
When I searched for Vivaldi on playstore every other browser appeared except Vivaldi. I had to change the sort criteria from "Relevance" to "Newest" for it to show up at the top of the search results. I wouldn't call that fair treatment.
-
Why can't I find vivaldi when I search 'vivaldi' in the app store?
-
-
I am not able to syncronise my data on iOS.
Logged in without problems, using the same key as usual, but it tells me illegal password for decryption. -
@FroBeNo Are you importing a backup encryption key file or inputting it via keyboard?
-
@tomashaarde , I am using the same file encryption key file as I use in Windows.
Storing it in iCloud folder. It should be possible to access it for Vivaldi, or is Vivaldi not able to read from the iCloud folder? I am able to select the file from Vivaldi encryption menu.I have forgotten my encryption password...
-
@FroBeNo
Hi, the backup key is connected to the device, you cant use it for another device.
Reset your remote data on your desktop system, then you can change your encryption password.
All other devices get logged out and you have to log in again and use your new encryption password.
It's like your credit card pin, don't forget it.
Here I test this with a new encryption password: -
@FroBeNo We discovered yesterday that there is a problem reading from the iCloud folder. If you copy the file to your phone, e.g. using the Files app on the phone, then it should work.

This post is deleted! -
@FroBeNo Actually, after checking better, the encryption file should work even if it comes from Windows. Let me know if it works for you.

@jon A saga says: in the late 60ies John Lennon has bitten a apple of Yoko Ono's art installation at Indica Gallery London (at this time they where not in a relation and do no know each other as artists)
-
@mib3berlin I've been able to use my encryption key file across Windows and Android for a while, but like @FroBeNo, I can't do it on my iOS device (iPad) either.
-
@JoaoPauloS There is a bug where it does not work if the file is on the iCloud drive. The file must be on the device storage. Let me know if this is the issue for you.

@JoaoPauloS said in Vivaldi Takes a Bite Out of the Apple: Introducing Vivaldi on iOS:
@mib3berlin I've been able to use my encryption key file across Windows and Android for a while, but like @FroBeNo, I can't do it on my iOS device (iPad) either.
I also had problems with Sync and had to log in normally on both devices and then click on "Delete synchronisation data on the server". Then restart Vivaldi and log in again. Then enter the password for Sync and only then did it work.

@tomashaarde It didn't work for both clould and device storage.
The only way to make it work was to follow the mib3berlin and Linu74 advice. Thank you guys! -
Thank you!!!!
-
Whoa! Finally!!! Onwards and upwards - Vivaldi!!!

Really not a fan of both the address bar and controls being at the bottom on mobile browsers. The Angefish browser with everything at the bottom was one of many things that put me right off Plasma Mobile. The Mobian developers added a package to do something similar to (desktop) Firefox on Phosh which as the "mobile friendly" configuration is a package can be uninstalled and Aris' CSS for Firefox can then be installed to get Firefox looking like I want it to. I haven't found a way to get the forward and back buttons on Vivaldi for Android at the top as yet. Fortunately the version of Vivaldi that runs on Mobian is the desktop version with both buttons and address field at the top. It works surprisingly well on a touchscreen better IMHO than the mobile version of Vivaldi on Android. Each to their own heh?!
