RSS Feeds not marked as read

Forgive me if I have not understood how it works, but does the "Automatically mark as read" from the Mail settings category also applies to RSS feeds entries? I've ticked it and yet I have to manually set RSS news as read.

Turns out the option won't work if the option to display read items is disabled. Bug I guess?
