So what is the story with Google Maps Globe View (3D)
-
Does not want to work anymore. Works fine in Chrome, not in Vivaldi.

@Dtews67 Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
I believe the 3D view requires sign in to your Google account.
It works fine for me in Vivaldi.

@DoctorG Yes, I know it needs satellite view to work.
But that's the experience for me - I need to sign in to get the 3D view, no matter the browser, testing in Chrome, Firefox, Edge - no 3D view.
On my default browser (Snapshot 6.2) I am signed in, and get the 3D view button.
This is the big problem with Google's services - different results depending on location so impossibly to do a comparison test.

@Dtews67 You need to have Hardware Acceleration active to get the Globe 3D View.
Check Settings → Web pages → Untick "Use of Hardware Acceleration…", close settings, then restart, then again Settings → Web pages → tick "Use of Hardware Acceleration…", close Settings.
Does that help?
Need some more information. Please open
vivaldi://gpu
, copy that content, paste with </> button in your reply popup. -
@DoctorG I figured it out I think - I might be wrong about the signin requirement
Here's how it works - it's a Setting in Google Maps, but not easy to find under Layers > More :
By default (clean profile) this is OFF. Probably stored in a cookie or storage.
So that explains why it's different results for users.Video: https://ttm.sh/BK8.mp4
But yes, hardware acceleration is also a requirement.
